First of all, I would like to commend the lads efforts today, and the response on here so far shows how much we all appreciate that they had a real dig today.

But.... Whilst patting the lads on the back, I would like to comment on the structure of the team. I've mentioned it a few times this year, we have absolutely no attacking structure.

The only reason we made a game of it today was because of some individual brilliance and 'off the cuff' rugby. How many times were our last play options awful? This has been the same all season and must not be something the team work on in training. Our terrible set up for the last tackle gifted Wigan field position and points, and unfortunately that was the difference between winning and losing.

But in spite of that, we made a real fist of it, and on another day could have come away with a win - purely on the back of the players natural ability, not through a well coached and guided team strategy.

There has got to be serious questions asked about how the coaches prepare this team for game day. I hope the players individual skills and ability dont paper over the obvious cracks.

Any thoughts?

The players determination and effort has never been in question for me, maybe their ability is due to advancing age. I agree completely that we do not have any attacking structure (I've said it all season) and that lies at the door of the coach as he is responsible for both gameplan and making sure players stick to it.

That said, they had a real dig yesterday, and but for one or two unlucky bouncesor decisions it could have been a different story.

I have seen leeds in the last two games, Stoop and Wembley and amazed why you have Rob Burrow on the bench. Once he is on the field your team is more fired up and organised. If he had been on from the start yesterday you would have won. His he injured or is this due to team selection?

I have to agree with this. The creative play when both Maguire and Burrow are on the field is fairly clear. They read each others game plan well and seem to click on the field.

Not injured. Our leader is under the misapprehension (for reasons best known to himself) that he is a better played as substitute hooker when the majority of leeds fans would prefer to see McGuire, Burrow and Sinfield play in their recognised positions. God only knows what McShane has done to upset him. However, that aside I would disagree with your comment would have won I would have said may have won. Who's to say. If the ref had blown for the forward pass (Lima's try) and the 40/20 attempt had been had been correctly called as a Leeds head and feed which lead to another Wigan try the outcome would have been different.

It's now all ifs and buts now and the decisions made by others creates the the talking points for years to come.

Well maybe until the next game at least!

Yeah, although I'm pretty sure that we will continue to discuss our teams lack of organisation/game plan for a while yet, unless something drastic happens at training this week.

I try not to criticise players or coaches too often, because at the end of the day, they are full time professionals, and I aint. But I really do have to question what exactly the coaches are doing with the team in mid-week training.

This season we dont appear to have any organisation in attack, we dont have any fancy set moves, we dont have a good defensive structure, we dont win collisions in either attack or defence - we lose the wrestle more often than not, basic skills seem to have deteriorated (I'm not a stats man myself, but I'd hazard a guess we have made more individual mistakes this year than in a long time), and our discipline has been poor too.

With all that in mind, you have to question what area of the game are the coaching staff focussing on? As watching the team on game day, I dont see evidence of any coaching input, it just seems to be left up to the individuals to put something on 'off the cuff'.

So if they aint focussing on team initiatives, they must be focussing on making individuals better - but looking through our team, I dont really see any evidence of young players progressing their skill levels/attitude, all the players individually seem to be playing at the same standard as last year (or worse). So, what exactly is the current coaching set up doing to earn their wages?
