| Ok, Brian McDermott hasn't had the greatest start to his Leeds Rhinos coaching career, but there are a few things we can be thankful to him for. Here's what I can come up with, see if you have any more...
1. He successfully ousted Luke Burgess and Ben Cross from the club.
2. He employed a Bradford legend as his assistant, who doesn't seem to have had much input at all!
3. He has played arguably 2010's best Stand Off, Danny McGuire, out of position all season (when he has been fit.)
4. He has played a Loose Forward at Stand Off all season for no reason whatsoever.
5. He dropped Paul McShane from the team when he was looking like a great impact player.
6. He has put Rob Burrow on the bench to bring him on as replacement hooker (he has looked good here, but so did McShane and he is a proven, successful Scrum Half.)
7. He has fialed to play McGuire, Burrow, Buderus and Sinfield at the same time for long periods when clearly this works (off the top of my head, the last 15mins against Hull they all played in the correct postions and we scored 16 un-answered points.)
8. He has ruined Lee Smith's career by not playing him in the centres. Before he left for yawnion, he was becomming an international centre. He has played there maybe once this season.
9. He takes Jamie Peacock off when the chips are down to replace him with Ian Kirke.
10. He has probably made Danny Buderus' decision to leave by playing him in 15 minute bursts.
Thanks Brian.

Disagree with both these points......others are valid IMO

Really? I would also dissagree with
Quote: darwoo11 "3. He has played arguably 2010's best Stand Off, Danny McGuire, out of position all season (when he has been fit.)

3. When has McGuire been fit this season yet. He looks a shadow of last seasons player. Give the lad a chance to get fit.
4. The reason a loose forward has been at stand off all season is because up until the end of April we didn't have another half back to play there (poor management from the club, long before McDermott arrived), and since then the returning halfback as per number 3 has not been fully fit to make the position his own for 80 minutes.
6. Personally I don't think you can go with a 17 with Burrow and McShane in it. I think is option of using Burrow as the second hooker is the right one. But I don't necessarily agree that it should be from the bench.
8. I personally have always been one of Smith's biggest fans, but McDermott is not ruining his career, Smith has done that himself. He needs to sort himself out and get his form back together. It's not as if he has much competition at the moment, but he needs to prove he is right for it.
9. He only takes Peacock off when he is struggling. Up until the last few weeks Peacock was really struggling to get back up to previous years form, and really struggling fitness wise. That's why he was been taken off.

Yep I'd agree with that.
I'd also disagree with point #10, but heartily endorse point #11.
I think it's quite obvious to see what this seasons problems are. Smith & McClennan are lovers of cake. McDermott, with his marine background, sees cake as something to be overcome rather than simply enjoy. Hence no cake before training with McDermott in charge.

Ah yes. What a day that was. Lousy traffic on the A1, Edinburgh recovering from mid-week flooding, torn apart by Nathan McAvoy and then on the way back to the coach a street entertainer who managed to combine my least favourite artist with my least favourite instrument by playing a Celine Dion song on bagpipes.
Worst. Day. Ever.
