Just a quick question on the habitual salary cap cheats.

Anyone have any idea how much spare cap space they had to pick up Hoffman and Finch from fellow cap cheats Melbourne Storm??

Considering the NRL cap is £2.7m ($4.3m AUD),the UK cap is £1.6m as you know, and that the Storm were already running over that it must be lucky that Wigan had sufficient space and that Hoffman and storm lynchpin Finch were willing to take (what logically must be a pay cut no?) to sign for the Warriors.

Maybe they just asked Hansen, Tomkins and co to take another salary deferment or have they learned lessons from passed cheating and have the current champions decided keep around a spare 20% of the cap free for eventualities leading into this season.

Nice theory and knowing from past experience it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Before I throw out my own theory that will invariably land the mods with a lawyers letter, there's a [ichance[/i that Hoffman and Finch aren't on mega-bucks at Wigan.

After all, they were practically pushed out the door at Melbourne for obvious reasons and I don't think it's a coincidence that one of them is going back to the NRL after one season.

It can easily be cheated but it would be very difficult for the rfl to pick up, so if it hasn't been caught at the time of signings then it is unlikely to be caught. Not saying Wigan are cheating here though.

Surely if you want to discuss this sensibly, you should also mention/consider what players left or perhaps signed reduced deals?

It wasn't long ago since Leeds "had to be" cheating the salary cap - it goes with being the best side in the comp, other fans can't understand how there can possibly be a team better than theirs.

The cap is live but until we have punishment the same as the NRL With a full points deductions teams will try cheat it.

leave it to the powers to be if they have then good luck to them but cant see em doing it again
