Travelling to Stansted on Saturday tea time by car. Internet sites say A1 is best route, I'm not so sure - can any body give me advice, never been from Stansted before.

A1 all the way. Its the old man uses (coach driver) when going down.

A1, then A14, then M11. Watch out for the average speed cameras.

What he said, I'd also add allow plenty of time.
It takes longer than you'd think considering the distance involved.

That's the way I went to Harlow the other week ....

- The A14 from Peterborough to the top end of the M11 is one long average speed camera trap.

- There's a stack of road works at the bottom end of the M11 that might catch you. At least you'll be going against the natural flow of traffic away from London at that time of day.

Don't forget to leave it until the very last minute before dashing across the departure lounge to check-in and playing merry hell with the girl on the desk because its just closed - then realise you've left your passport in the taxi.

Guaranteed to get you on telly that is.

Ha Ha, shouldn't have assumed you'd know I was travelling from Leeds should I.

Also I'm one of those people who gets every where too early. That's why I'm staying in airport hotel on Saturday night but will still be sat in the airport too early.

Thanks everyone for the speed camera and roadworks info - they seem to be everywhere at the moment. Good job I've just learnt how to use the cruise control on my car.
