It's a great song but it's played to death all year round on MTV etc.

| I think you always like what you heard as a kid so for me it'd be Wizzard, Slade, the various American 50s/60s crooners, plus Bowie 'n' Bing and that Greg Lake song.
The crooners I (Crosby, Martin, Nat King Cole, Ella Fizgerald etc) probably are the best songs performed by the best singers but its the way they make you feel, as do the 70s ones, that make them the best for you. They make you feel just a hint of the magic you felt as a child.
Carols don't get listened to as much which is a shame as I like them all.
Was saying to our lass yesterday that you can't get a perfect Christmas album. Whatever you get has some personal classics missing yet is still padded out with recent songs or, even worse, cover versions.

| Low - Just like christmas (give it a spin on youtube if you dont know it)
Pogues - Fairytale of new york, I agree it's done to death and by mid december your sick of hearing it but christmas wouldn't be christmas without it now.

It's harmless fun with a homage to the likes of Slade and Wizard imo.
