| apparently Greg Eastwood had a storming game both making and scoring trys for his temporary team. With the loss of Ellis it shows what we may be missing out on, he could have given us that extra edge. By the way I think our forwards will still dominate most games and has a former prop (old days) Ryan Bailey is a vital part of that pack and is very much underated.

| I don't know if it has been suggested on any of the previous Eastwood threads but it might be a good idea to get him over here as soon as the Doggies are eliminated from the NRL comp (assuming it's early enough for him to contribute to our play-off games).
Does anyone know if this is feasible in the context of his contracts / agreements with them and us ?

| You conveniently missed the bit where he missed a tackle that led to a try for the other team.

| NRL regular season finishes on the first week in September. Super League the 2nd/3rd week.
Must admit I wondered if GH's master plan involved Eastwood appearing for the tail end of our campaign.....

| There's a signing deadline these days isn't there? Brought in after the likes of Morley and Johns came over at the tail end of the season.

| Fair point - but I guess it depends on whether he's classed as already having signed with us or not.

I thought it was a rule against short term loan agreements at the end of the season. Could be wrong though.

Correct. Eastwood won't be at Leeds (even if he wins his Visa appeal) anytime before 2010. IMO.
Hopefully he will get himself in a bit of condition at the Bulldogs.

Does he have his playing contract lodged at the RFL?
No, well there's your answer.

| There was talk of him being "on loan" over in Aus wasn't there. If thats the case surely leeds can recall him from that loan once his Visa is here. Would have been a very shrewd move if so.......
Also with him being signed already (if thats happened) the deadline may not apply?
All thories and wishful thinking obviously

In order for him to be "on loan" he would have to be registered with the RFL by Leeds.
In order to be registered with the RFL, he would need to have a valid playing contract with an RFL registered club.
In order to have a valid contract, he would need to have permission to work for a UK employer.
See where I'm going with this?
IMO you won't see Eastwood in a Leeds shirt full stop. Unless something happens to his motoring convictions which denied him a visa in the first instance (e.g. they become spent), or the UK Borders Agency changes its decision making criteria he's not going to get a visa meaning he won't be able to take up his 2010 option to leave in his Bulldogs contract.

If you look at the wording of the law he is refused on the basis that it is "is conducive to the public good" that is down to interpretation so is definately appealable
the appeal is heard by an independent judge here in the UK, even if the circumstances dont change he still has a chance of coming to the UK, the UK border agency is not making the decision

Apart from letting in a try under the sticks with an half a[irse[/id attempt on Waterhouse, it now transpires that Eastwood failed to get his carcass off the field resulting in the Bulldogs having 14 players out there when they scored their match winning try. The Bulldogs have since been stripped of the two competition points.
So overall a fairly catastrophic debut.

Didn't a similar thing happen a few seasons with us, and all we got was a slap on the wrists? The NRL seems to be much sterner on infringments both on and off the field
