| Not having a go at the ref so get off your high horses, but how funny was it when Lee Smith last night gave a penalty away, (cant remember what for), but the ref called Danny McGuire over, only fa McGuire to say, "It want me!!!!", for the ref then to call Diskin over instead to take Smith's punishment!!!!

| Having expressed some prior concern on the forum about his "style" I do feel it had some bearing on the game and perhaps even the outcome.
I usually take the view that over the full 80 things tend to balance themselves out fairly even but I must confess to feeling slightly agrieved about some crucial decisions.
WHY ????? couldnt we have had a neutral ref from NZ say.

| I cannot understand why the obvious on field "coaching" by the water carriers wasn't stamped on. These two were on the field more than some of the players. They were pointing out the deficiences on our right side which left Donald outnumbered. I thought this sort of thing had been outlawed.

| A few things went Manly's way. A few bounces of the ball, Leeds fingers wiping tackle counts down to give repeat sets etc. The overall penalty count was I think slightly Leeds way but some decisions against us were difficult to understand. Graham Murray used to constantly say that it was the little things going your way that could change a match and although Manly looked the better side last night I think that if a couple of little things had gone Leeds way instead of Manly's then that last 20 minutes could have seen leeds ease away and win. I think the ref made a couple of things go Manly's way (the final penalty they kicked was a prime example).
I did enjoy the biff with Peacock, but you need 13 defenders against an Australian side. They are too good at utilising the space. I think that was the turning point, not much to do with the ref there really.

I've heard some of his decisions can be a bit fishy.

Penalties to Leeds 14 - against Leeds 13.
27 in Rugby League, what is the world coming to.

| In many respects, it's the problem that we will always have whilst the Super League, NRL and International game persist with different rules and interpretation of them.
We all know that the NRL style is a slower, more physical "wrestling" style. Try that in the Super League and you'll be getting stung on every set.
In the end, the referee didn't get an awful lot wrong IMO apart from the incident with Lee Smith (presumably he pulled him for a quick play the ball?). The disagreements that we see at WCC and international level stem from a difference in rule interpretation and playing style, not referee error.

His management of the tackle area at Warrington was more SL in style, very keen to get players moving off the tackled player. Continued that into the WCC, so I don't think there's much cause for complaint from a Leeds POV about the way he handled the game.
