| He must have had a rethink on being prepared to be a bit part player as beyond being back up at centre I can’t see any other roles unfortunately.

Looking at sinfields comments at the bottom of the article I feel we might see him more starting centre.

He's obviously backing himself to cement a position.A lot will depend on Hurrell if he stays,i cant see Hurrell being offered marquee money.A fit Newman and Herrell will be hard to displace in the centre.

| I think if Newman hadn't had the serious injury we would have probably accepted Sutty would get more opportunities elsewhere. Some people on here are talking as if Newman will be straight back in, and on form some time next season.
Sadly this is by no means a guarantee. That injury would have ended an older players career.....

| I personally am happy with the news. I feel Sutcliffe's value often gets overlooked by a lot of fans.
He is still only 26. Maybe if Konrad stays his role within the 17 may change. However, for now, Harry is still a while off so we will run with Koni and Sutty to start the season.
Good competition for places.

Any serious injury can threaten a career. Just ask Yowyeh or Stankovitch. But the kid is clearly positive and young, so I'm sure will make full recovery, but will take time.....

Barrie did his when he was 24 in 97 hardly old, but it took him 2 years to get back to form and back until the team. if he was 32-33 probably game over.
If Newman is back in the team at all before may/June that will be a surprise never mind first choice. He will gave fight for his place this year or take his chance if others are injured. Hurrell Sutcliffe Broadbent Newman in that order at the moment, no way would we give Sutcliffe a 3 tear deal if he was nit a first choice starter.

But unfortunate you don't pick the side so it does not matter what role you can see for him. The club see him as a starter and currently first choice centre.
The club have tied up an hone grown local player who is 26 and coming into his prime. Good management for me.

I thought this was a message board for musings and opinions where nothing any of us say really matters?

| He was the best centre in the team in the second half of last season. Better defensively than Hurrell and was good in attack too. Might not be as explosive as Hurrell but he linked up well with Handley and scored some nice tries himself
