| Quote ="rugbyleague88"Poor by McDermott and I believe McShane will look to move this winter now. McShane is the best hooker at the club but continues to get dropped when players return from injury. I like McShane he is a very clever player, with a full range of skills and gets the players going forwards, just a shame the coach has never showed any confidence in him.'"
He is the best recognised hooker at the club, i won't dispute that. But I don't think you can say the coach hasn't shown confidence in him - he's played most games this season. His form has hardly warranted it either. How you can say it's 'poor by McDermott' is baffling.
I don't think he's good enough to be our number 9 and so if he does move on, I'd hope to see us sign someone for next season.
Quote ="Sal Paradise"Sadly he is not the only one JJB and Kirke have both been very average to abysmal at times but neither have been treated like McShane? He was awful on Friday so McDermott has a point - things have to be seen to be equitable or else people will lose respect for the manager's judgement.'"
I appreciate that - but I think it also comes down to how the players behave in the week and their attitude. I'm purely playing devil's advocate here, but if McShane is clashing with McDermott in the week, whilst Kirke and JJB are working hard, then that is obviously going to affect the choice to drop him.

| You'd convince me of moving Sinfield to hooker if you promised me he would defend down the middle where he's more suited defending.
Talking of more suited, you could even try him at Loose Forward......

You make them sound like children.
I don't buy into something we'll never know about.
What we do know is that Mac and Macca have worked together for a few years now. If there was a 'rub' you think there would have already been a parting. Instead we can work on facts and Mac retained the '9' shirt again.
Macca similar to Clarkson get dropped very readily when other players are available to play instead. In some of the droppings they are puzzling as neither have been worst performers in some of these games. Maybe some players are ok to be dropped and maybe some aren't.

True, and that was kind of why I suggested perhaps it has something to do with what their doing in the week.
But I don't know.. i'll stop speculating!

Foster is better than Keinhorst in any position, end of.

Agreed - play him from the start or don't at all. He isn't an impact sub.

Burrow jumped to the rescue last week.
2/3 touchliners IIRC. (was a relief, you could tell Zak was frustrated with not landing them. Leaves him open to concentrate on his game)

Do we have Foster tied up for some years? Keinhorst got 2 years left of his contract, so maybe playing with Hunslet for a while if Academy players coming through are seen to be better. Personally I think he needs time at an SL team to further develop if he can't make Leeds' starting 17 - proved he's plenty above Hunslet's level.

Agree.....but as starting hooker for gawd's sake. If - as seems likely - both McShane and Hood will be gone after this season then Sinfield is the best remaining option IMO.

Foster has another two years IIRC.
Seem to remember it being mentioned around the time the Sutcliffe and Minns deals were announced.

Yep...crazy. Nearly as bad as playing Burrow as 80 mins hooker
Times change. Past is past. Sinfield is a better option there

Sinfield at dummy half and Burrow at half back doesn't offer as much as Burrow at dummy half and Sinfield at half back, IMO.

| Neither Burrow nor Sinfield are likely to defend down the middle third of the field, irrespective of where they play in attack.
Not sure what point you're trying and failing to make?

He probably would be the best 9 at the club. But he's also the best 6, 7 and 13 at the club and you can't pick him in every position any more than Wigan would play Tomkins at centre because he'd be a better centre than Gelling.
Sinfield is more important to us directing play in the backfield. What we'd lose there is greater than what we'd gain from him being acting-half.
The fact that we haven't got a proper hooker on the books who's judged up to SL standard is another issue. It's not as if we haven't had 2 years to find one.

but why would you want to let your main playmakers get worn down there? Neither are as good defending in that position as our collection of props and back row forwards, and nor is McShane.

What a silly comment....Foster is less experienced and has not played at above U19's and not regular there either. He is a strong runner and puts his body in the way to make tackels, but running as at Hunslet or Leeds level is not a simple step up......Gotcha.....!
