I was told that this medical examination was actually taken weeks before any signing announcements were made by a respected person who is still professionally involved within our game, and that there was a joint agreement between both clubs that if he had failed it that the deal was off and this was agreed by both clubs so your scenario is totally irrelevant IMO

I think that’s the case with medicals in general in sport. There have been numerous football transfers that haven’t gone ahead because they failed a medical.

That’s the whole point of the medical really.

I was impressed by the thoroughness of the medical. In some ways asking if everything was ok was a way to check the honesty of the player as the medical staff would know from what they see and feel.

With this type of medical in place we won’t sign any duds from a physical perspective.

Quite true. I remember Andy Farrell being subject to that particular chant frequently during a game at Headingley. I can’t remember the reason why but for that fixture the away team used the South Stand changing rooms. Anyway, as was going down the tunnel at the end that chant was being aimed at him, his response was to clap the south stand. The chanting stopped and he was then clapped off instead of being chanted at. My estimations of him slightly went up at that moment.

There was quite a bit of self-certification in there really, but I would think contractually the club has a legal position if a player declares fitness in an area which they turn out not to be down the line. It's all for insurance and legal stuff. Did look very thorough though!
