| Let's hope the team can give him a final year his career and commitment to the Rhinos deserves.
Legend is used too often when describing players but Sinfield is a true legend of the Leeds club.

| It had to happen at some point, all good things come to an end. I wish Sinny all the very best as he turns his hand to the other code. Can't help but feel it was a bit over sold by the club, particularly from a Rhinos perspective. Kind of a Meh ++ moment.
Did they say where will he play in the union side?

| I'm glad that he is staying close by. Can easily integrate him into the admin/coaching/whatever he fancies side of things once he finally hangs up his boots.
Can't help but think that he himself has realised that this is the right time to call it quits, even if it doesn't mean hanging up the boots altogether. This seems like a very good deal for all parties.
Either way, he will finish as one of the greats of our club, unrivaled in modern times, and one of the best players of the Super League era.
With Kev and JP going, that's going to be one emotional send off at the last home game!

| Well, I was half right. The truth is, based on the high standards he's set throughout his career, his level of performance for a few years now has been below par. His last really good games, for me, were in an England shirt.
Our greatest ever Captain, one of RL's greatest ever Captains. It couldn't last forever.

| He already told the club in August last year that he wouldn't be renewing his playing for the Rhinos beyond 2016. Probably realised he might have been optimistic with the pace of the game.
What an absolute legend, and a measure of the man that this change was probably down to his decision in realising his own body's capabilities.

| The indication that it was that its was a player related announcement and I had a feeling about a dual code signing but never thought it would be a transfer for Kevin. Although he did say after the Burgess crossed codes that he too had been tempted. He is likely to play at fly half and could do a good job and will most likely have the chance to earn more. I wish him well and thank him for for his truly legendary service for Leeds.

| Good Luck to Sir Kev. I can see him being around Headingley in one capacity or the other for many more years, plus a spot on the BBC or Sky pundit table.
I'd guess GH will have a large amount of Cap space available for next year.
Interesting times ahead, and this season isn't going too badly...a pleasant surprise!

| Whilst KS is of course a legend given his age his retirement and a chance to play a less strenuous code is hardly the biggest announcement in the history of the club. Ridiculous hyperbole. Anyway it goes without saying Kevin is our greatest ever captain and he goes with my best wishes. Big shoes to fill but the time is definitely right to replace him.

| All the best to Kev, I personally think he'll thrive playing union. He has a great kicking game and can easily pull the strings and control a game so will suit the stand off position.
It will be interesting to see whether Sutcliffe gets a bit more game time for the rest of this season whether Sinfield is fully fit or not.

| Carnegie will probably get 18 months out of him, although with 10 being such a pivotal position in Union he's not even guaranteed to get into the side.
Time for some of the senior figures in the dressing room such as McGuire, Burrow, JJB, Aiton etc who may have hidden behind Peacock and Sinfield to step up and take on leadership roles.

Truly the end of an unthinkable era
Imagine the send off come October. JP and Kev leaving. WOW. Legends isn't respectful enough as its used all too often. All time greats. In one season. Although its the right thing, gutted.

| To be fair the statement about the press conference says "one of the most significant in the history of both teams". Maybe a tad of hype but it's still Leeds RLFC's greatest ever captain during its greatest ever period who's effectively retiring from the sport. I think a tad of hype is ok in this instance.
As for the future, well we've still got McGuire and Burrow in the halves to help bring on Sutcliffe. There might be an issue over leadership with Peacock going too but it's also an opportunity for someone else to stand up. JJB, Burrow, McGuire all contribute currently to leadership anyway, maybe someone like Cuthbertson might too.
I don't think we've seen the end of Sir Kev at the Rhinos. Give it a couple of years playing for Carnegie and then I think you'll see him at one or both of the clubs in some kind of management role.

| Sutcliffe, McGuire, Burrow won't be good enough on its own. Watch Leeds go after Ryan Brierley again. I can see Burrow seeing his career out as he is now playing around Paul Aiton, he is not the answer to Leeds' halves. Sutcliffe and McGuire can cut it but you need that 3rd option like we have present with Sutcliffe supporting Kev and McGuire. Bring in Brierley.

| An interesting move & could be a typical Hetherington masterplan. I honestly thought we would miss him in the last 2 games which I don't think we have (other than goal kicking). This frees up cap space to (hopefully) buy marquee half back, and will almost certainly create much more interest in Carnegie. Thanks so much Kev, for mine easily the best captain RL has ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. The time is right though.

McGuire for me. For a couple of seasons. Stevie Ward needs to be left to focus on his own development for a few years rather than have more responsibility for a group.

Yeah, it'll be McGuire or JJB - whoever's going to be the most regular starter - then Ward when they hang up their boots.
