I don't know if this has been mentioned before but surely these kinds of awards should be done after the season has finished.
The man of steel should be determined on how well the players cope with the playoff format as well as the regular season.
Think Leeds would have a lot more nominations too if this was the case.

Not really but that's not the point. Nobody would have made any difference from the pool of players available for selection but picking the best players at least increases your chances.

Awarding Wigan team of the year seems a little rash. Won hubcap, yes. But Wire were not far behind, won the cup and reached the GF. But meh, the only meaningful team of the year award is the one given out on Saturday night at Old Trafford. The winner (whoever it is) will have two trophies, Wigan one trophy, and that of dubious virtue...

Not too sure about those Lifetime Achievement Awards. Is being an average player throughout your career worthy of a lifetime achievement award simply because they're retiring this year?

Think of how embarrassing winning MOS would be to Sir Kev. I can't recall a single instance where he's admitted to having played remotely well. I honestly think lifting the team award would mean more to him, albeit a poor second to lifting another trophy at OT.
