No because neither Sinfield, McGuire nor even Burrow have been the best player in the league this year. I would suggest Hall would probably be our closest contender.

| You'd have to be wearing some very blue and amber coloured glasses to put a Leeds player on the shortlist this year.
I'd quite like to see Westwood win it, but they all look decent enough candidates to me this year.

| Perhaps there should be (and needs to be) a lifetime achievment category to reflect those that have given outstanding service over a number of years?
James Roby would be my selection for Man Of Steel 2012. Tomkins could go close but as it's an opposition player vote I'm not sure he's got the backing required even after cutting out the arm trapping cheating ploy of the Maguire period at Wigan. I'd have no issue with Westwood winning it either, proper old-fashioned forard.

| I'd like to see Roby win it, i think he's consistently been the strongest player this year.

Very true.It seems crazy to think a player with the calibre of Kevin Sinfield will finish his career without claiming the award at least once. There have been a few bizzare winners in the past, i remember Roby winning it as a rookie in mid 00's i think, playing off the bench most of the season (did have a good season mind) and his mentor Cunningham, like Sinfield, never got the award in his career.
2009 Brett Hodgson won it.Im not disputing Hodgson having a top season but Leeds won the hub cap that year and went on to claim a historic 3rd super league crown was there really nobody in the Leeds side worthy of picking up MOS ahead of him? i find it amazing that during such a dominant decade for the club not one of our players has been recognised with the award.

Not to mention 2004 when we gave everyone a damn good thrashing.

which unworthy winners have denied our players. You could argue that Danny in 2004, but Andy Farrell was also pretty impressive for Wigan. After that I struggle to think of any too bad.
The thing is, is that Leeds are a team. A true team, where their total is better than the sum of their parts. Their strength is spread pretty evenly across a large number of senior players, and as such, we win, but as a team. You know that on the big stage, if everyone does their job, they will be there or there abouts. For me, MOS is a nice to have, but is often a sign of one-man teams. Harris, Hodgeson, Farrell, Chase, and to a certain extent the 2007 Roby. Leeds are held together by Sir Kev, but when he's missing we still function pretty well.
Its sad the Kev will probably never win MOS, but I think he haul of GF winners rings, plus other honours will be more than enough compensation for him, the same goes for Cunningham

I see what you are saying, and in the main i agree with you.But from 2000-2008 7 saints players picked up the award and i would hardly call them a one man team during that period!
As you say, individual awards are nice but the winners medals are what matters most to players.Final wins and success as a team should always come first.Im willing to wager that Schoey(he would probably deny it but if he was honest) would have traded his Golden Boot for a wembley win in 94 or 95.

1140_1361875489.jpg Leeds Rhinos? 8 for you, Leeds Rhinos! You go, Leeds Rhinos.
And none for Castleford Tigers. Bye!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1140.jpg |

| Out of the three, I'd like Westwood to win. He works his nuts off, and always has a good game whenever I watch Warrington play.

| Westwood. If ever a player typified "Man of Steel", it's him.
