I think Watkins is a cracking player. I think the only other potential option that could have been in the squad this year is Atkins. I'd like to see Percival given a go over Sarginson, who IMO was worse than Kallum.

I think the problem with all of our centres is none of them are physically imposing, none of them would scare the Aus back line. Watkins has the potential to but lacks that competitive, nasty edge.

Watkins blew a chance to score in the first half when he dropped a scoring pass from McGilveray. Apart from that he was alright without doing anything amazing. It was a close game so there were few chances. The Kiwis line speed was good too so he got little room to move. Sarginson hardly covered himself in glory either when he failed to execute a catch and pass to put Hall in with a clear overlap.

It looked good to me at the time from slightly to the right of the goal posts, the bigger issue was that we had multiple opportunities to kick a drop goal to even it up and we never even attempted it.

We did. Widdop fluffed a rushed attempt in the last 5 minutes.

Not impressed with our tactics, like most spectators I had assumed the new coaching regime would freshen things up.
