Given Leeds' record in the CC before last year I'd say losing to relegated sides was well worth a drunken laugh. The players are pros but it was such a massive thing for them to have finally won it after so many failures I think the only surprise is that people were surprised at how much it affected them. Even this year it clearly took a couple of weeks to wear off.

I see what you're saying. I think his stamp has been to instil a mix of discipline and an ability to play what you see in front of you. When he first took over we lacked the discipline and we played at times with a carefree abandon that was reckless. I think he has merged those two qualities together.

I think Powell was unlucky. He took the job on at a difficult time (Lance) and took a big decision in making King Kev Captain. He also was coach when the Bulls had an absolutely outstanding team.

imo, Bluey was the luckiest.He got the team right in its pomp and in a winning mentality and hungry for more.Brian Mac has obviously had a top side too but he has had to oversee a transition from old guard to new which he has done far better than most on here thought he would do far.Obviously, we still have to see how he goes without his big 2 leaders but the squad looks pretty good for next year if we can get a hooker signed up.

Agree with biff. Bluey was a great motivator but mcdermott had to develop the style of play after some pain in 2011 and his record of getting to finals is outstanding . Last year we played a conservative safety first style and finally got he cc and he has totally changed that for this year. That is surely the mark of a fine coach.
