Agreed. But you also need to play the player who is going to be most effective in that position. Is an out of position Golding necessarily a better option than a "lesser" player who understands and is used to playing the position?
If we were short of half-backs, nobody would be suggesting playing Carl Ablett there ahead of Jordan Lilley, despite Ablett clearly being the more talented player of the two.

I agree with this. I would rather have a lesser and younger kid who knows the position playing there than a better and older player who doesn't really have the understanding or attributes to play the role well. You then shoot yourself in the foot twice - losing the player you have moved in the position he is competent in, plus carrying someone in a position they don't really know best what to do.
If the wingers in the U-19s don't understand he requirements of being a winger, then best off putting someone else there who doesn't totally either, but is a better player overall.
If the U19 wingers are really switched on with their role understanding, but are a bit naïve and need more experience - get them in.
It used to totally peck my head in the football when situations like this arose; managers would usually play a midfielder or full back in defence, that was totally clueless rather than playing a young defender who although wet behind the ears, at least had a grasp of the requirements and subtleties of being a defender.

| We'll be missing: Chase, Hauraki, J Griffin, Paterson, Lee, Locke, A Walne, J Walne. We have G Griffin out on loan at Wakefield and I don't think he can be recalled yet, so I expect young Matty Gee will make his super league debut.

| Loads of FB's and centres make quite a few of there first senior appearances on the wing. It's not exactly like we'd be putting a prop on the wing by going with Golding there. Watkins, Hardaker, Lee Smith to name but a few who started off there mostly at the start.

| Billy McDermott and Ryan Jones are the wingers in the U19s IIRC. From what I've seen both are WAY off SL standard at this time,

Spot on.
Golding on the wing, retaining Hardaker at fullback is the way to go as far as I'm concerned.
As has been said earlier many half backs & fullbacks have debuted on the wing.
Iestyn Harris for example & Hardaker himself.
The back three have to operate as a unit so all have to be able to deal with kicks & bringing the ball back.
With Hall & Briscoe missing we will be weaker but we just have to deal with it.

Jones is a brilliant player, wasted on the wing, but still young.
MCDermott is pants, never looked like he would make a decent level rugby player. Seems to be out of who you know.

| Keinhorst will almost certainly play, then just a question of where, depending on whether Moon is fit.

Certainly got the size, speed and hands to be a better centre than winger. Not sure what position he played most of his junior rugby at?

| I'd go with least resistance and put Keinhorst on the wing outside Moon. He's got some speed, he'll do fine there.
If Moon's out, that shakes things up a bit, and I would be more tempted to bring Ablett into centre as a short term fix. Ending up with Handley, Golding/Jones and Keinhorst all in the 3/4 line looks a little under-experienced to me. Happy for them all to have game time, but maybe not all at once just yet!
