Aha, i actually just got it!! Silly me.

After years of being able to moan about Leeds for not winning anything, now that they are it's all a fix! Leeds plan their win/loss ratio to perfection so as to finish 5th in the league because it's easier to win SL from there AND the Challenge Cup is fixed to get them to the finals (which they keep losing, because they're crap obviously).
