| Bridge, I think, has been charged with the use of a forearm. That's fair enough given it was a televised game and it's deemed important by the authorities to make examples of players in these cases.
I trust as fellow RL fans we'll all be equally outraged the next time a Leeds player does something similar.

Moa's red was correct IMHO - he made contact with the head of Rinaldi, yes it was a shoulder charge but contact with the head is against the rules. It was accidental but dangerous and a red was justified - it's the defenders duty to take due care.'"
Have to disagree, using Bailey v fasavalu as precedent, it was perfectly legal and IMO is one of the things that separates our great sport from kick and clap. However refs are not exactly known for consistency
However quoted barrie's "It was Rinaldi's fault for being small" I agree, had Moa flattened a London Prop he would most likely have got up dusted himself off and nothing the more would have been said, nor should it imo

Of course, there is a fine line between gamesmanship and being dirty, what bridge did was dirty

Having not been outraged at this incident I will discuss any subsequent incidents in a similar fashion to how I've discussed this one, without outrage.

Rule one of precendents - the facts and issues have to be substantially the same... rlBailey/Fasavalu was not foul play because Fasavalu ducked into the tacklerl
In any case where has this idea that Shoulder charges can't also be high tackles come from. It has no basis in the laws of the game which state that it is foul play if "when effecting or attempting to effect a tackle makes contact with the head or neck of an opponent intentionally, recklessly or carelessly".
In Bailey/Fasavalu there was no intentional, reckless or careless contact with the head. I don't accept that as being the same for Moa.
Quote: Barrie's Glass Eye "However quoted barrie's "It was Rinaldi's fault for being small" I agree, had Moa flattened a London Prop he would most likely have got up dusted himself off and nothing the more would have been said, nor should it imo'"
I disagree this is exactly why it was a reckless tackle. Moa could see how tall Rinaldi was and therefore should have adjusted his technique accordingly. He made no attempt whatsoever to bring his shoulder below Rinaldi's head height which to me is at best careless and more probably reckless. [EDIT ]
Also on this basis wouldn't any high tackle on Rob Burrow be fair game as anyone else would have been fine?!

Bugger was this Forum around in 1979?? christ I could have logged on on My ZX81 and made a load of controversial posts about Fred Lindop, and Billy Thompson.....plus I could have laughed at the pie eaters when they got relegated in 1980....missed out there havent I...?
By the way when did you start watching leeds? 1997 when you shelled out a world record £350,000 for Iestyn Harris,or did you just wait for the trophies to roll in seven years later.....?
lets face it you didnt win your first title until the 1960's and you had been going for 90 years if the Wiganers find that out they'll have a field day...they're dead interested in History and stuff.....
best of luck on Friday anyway.

| Quote: Builth Wells Wire "If you look at Ben Jeffries right foot just before Bridge went in. It must be pretty close to Bridges tally-wackle.
I've noticed a few wire fans are using the excuse that Bridge reacted because he was kicked in the balls...if so Bridge must be even stupider than he looks - the only reason Jeffries legs swing up between Bridge's legs are because of the way Bridge executes the tackle

| Not sure if/when exactly they changed the rules, but I've always thought the shoulder charge to the head is a dangerous tackle and should lead to suspension. I have no problem with a legal shoulder charge, but players need to know they are taking a risk when they do it.

| Nathan Massey dropped on Sinfield in the 79th minute at Castleford (it didn't go unnoticed by Sinfield either) in a similar manner to the Bridge forearm drop onto Jeffries ...... genuine question has Massey been referred?
I'll assume not. The only consistency out of the Red Hall Disciplinary is their inconsistency.

Whenever I read a sentence like that it reminds me of Cassidy, and I don't mean Eva.
