Another one lost then ... what's the ratio for the season so far? Not pretty reading I am sure.
It really is a key problem and the coach needs to get it fixed.
To be fair there appeared to be evidence at Huddersfield (I think) of a specific effort to eliminate dissent as all the players were making a point of accepting decisions calmly and quietly. That seems to have been a flash in the pan as its creeping back in; and tonight had a dissent penalty and McGuire waving his arms around and shouting at the referee.
It appears the team still need to remove the coaches emotion from their mindset when they cross the white line.

Discipline really does need sorting. I don't understand why it hasn't been by now. And you're right it will cost us big time if it isn't addressed soon.
On the telly the conditions looked atrocious - far worse than last years GF. Summer rugby

| I fell asleep just before half time (was watching the reply) and from what I saw of him in the first half, I thought senior did well.
How are Burrow and Donald doing? Burrow looked in a lot of pain

| We had inferior discipline and kicking game (why were we not hoisting the ball in the air at every opportunity?). Cas had far superior go-forward - they nearly always carried defenders forward after the tackle impact and won all the defensive collisions comprehensively. Once again we scrambled well, but I wonder what it would have been llike if it hadn't rained and Cas could have been able to move the ball around near our line?
Burgess is going backwards - poor ball retention, leaden defending - Bailey by plenty. Kylie looks so keen to get to ground to play the ball you barely need to tackle him, Diskin has caught Ray Wilkins disease and Sinfield is like a wet clound hanging over the team (what the feck is wrong with the guy? I've never seen such a miserable looking barsteward - smile you miserable sod!).
Not a night for backs - you can only really look bad in those conditions - so hard to criticise there - they all worked hard.
The players obviously have a strong work ethic and team spirit, and there is real quality in the squad, but not a lot else looks right at the moment.

| as regards the penaltys we give too many stupid ones away.smiths choice to penalise webb for moving off the mark was petty and stupid. both teams did it all night. he marched us ten for dissent yet when he penalised cas sargent gave him a real gobfull and nothing was done.
pretty selective imo.
burgess is like thackery. takes the ball in well but his ball retention is shocking. he also was at fault for a try when chase,i think, went through him.
the will to win was supurb and i think senior is still the go to man and had a great fame.
being down to 14 very early on hit us hard, yes we could have done better, but the boys were magnificent and it was 2 good points.

Pretty much agree with you mate.
Also it's worth noting imo that we haven't beaten cas at their place for years so it was a great 2 points!!

According to good old Bill Arthur Donald had a sore jaw and tingling down 1 arm and Burrow had a dead leg. Neither were risked and IMO it was when Burrow went off that we looked the inferior side going forward. Still, was as good a game I have seen all year in the SL and I though on the whole the handling was good from both teams although it did get scrappy towards the end of the 2nd but can you blame them? Thats the worst rain i've seen since I was in KL a few years back.

| I just hope having Diskin and Buderus on at the same time was purely because of injuries and not tactical, if it is supposed to be tactical it is more suited to an under 11's side.
Having 2 hookers on, one for each side of the field is completely amateur.

You've been listening to the sky team too much. The last 4 games at the jungle are P4 W2 L2.
It's no big deal.

icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg |

| Quote: G1 "Why on earth focus on what he could have done and not what he did do?
Aside from that you're right to criticise his awful knock on and his poor play for Dixon's try.
Not so sure McGuire was "immense" but won't criticise a half back in those conditions (though he was at fault for cas' first try with an awful ball from dummy half).
Burgess should be dropped for Bailey. Truly awful ball retention.
Discipline is, frankly, becoming beyond a joke and if McLennan is unable to sort it our soon it will be the death of us. Mr Hetherington needs to have a serious word in the coaches ear about this failing especially as the coach himself identified it before the Saints cup game and seems incapable of doing anything about it.
Pleased with the defensive effort but thought we were awful ball in hand. Though the conditions didn't help they didn't hinder Cas as much. Cas had a much better kicking game, by some distance.
Oh, and Shenton didn't look any great shakes up against Ablett but nonetheless he did ingratiate himself to me by handing us the win.'"
So Gareth McGuire scored two tries, saved two tries in the second half and made the play for the winning penalty - so how was his contribution less immense than either Sinfield or Peacock?
