Now tell me more about how Hull aren't having a calamitous season Sal and why they're not having a calamitous season.
Since winning the Hull grand final against Hull in mid-May they've won just 2 games, both were at home and against Salford & Widnes - the 2 worst teams in the comp.
If they continue not having a calamitous season they'll finish the season in 8th place, 1 place above Leeds Rhinos who, I think we'll all agree, had had a pretty calamitous season.

Which competition are Hull in and which competition are Leeds in?

Are Hull guaranteed a place in SL at this moment in time - a simple yes/no answer will do.

So i would suggest whilst Hull haven't had a great season their fall from grace has been significantly less than Leeds despite an equally bad run of injuries.

McDermott picked Smith in 14 games whereas Sinfield has only picked him in 1 game out of 6. He has played more minutes this year than Walters, Oledski, Mullally, Garbutt, Dwyer, Keinhorst and Peteru and has developed very well under McDermott this year.

Ormandroyd was selected for 8 matches including the first run of games including the WCC match down under. However he did not grab his chance the way Oledski did and showed too many mistakes in defense. Lilley unfortunately has never played well enough to secure regular spot and Sinfield having tried him for one game has not selected him again.

I am not saying that BMcD did not make errors or that I agreed with everything he did but the injury crisis for the first half of the year was a serious one and having no big men on top of not having replaced McGuire and Sinfield left the team totally unbalance and reliant on experienced youngsters.

Are you suggesting our defense has improved since we changed coach?

PS, they're both in Super League unless one of them gets relegated, not that that's relevant as we're talking about Hull.

As they are both in SL will they be playing each other again this season? if not why not

so why not replace galloway? why not get a prop in earlier? we obviously had cap space.

If you think the current Cup holders and a team that was targeting a top 2 finish and Grand Final appearance, ending the season without a win in 4-5 months and 1 spot above the qualifiers isn't "calamitous" for that club, then you're a bigger idiot than I ever gave you credit for. You know exactly what I am trying to achieve - the fact that you seem unwilling to type Hull are in the top 8 and Leeds are not says much about you when you back is against the wall "There both in SL until one isn't"

You are splitting hairs. The question was not about who finished higher between Leeds and Hull, but it was about how injuries have seriously effected the performance of both sides this season.

It is not just the problem of playing without half your first team for half the season but you choose to ignore the obvious knock on effect on those first teamers that has to take on the role of the bigger men week in and week out and the effect on the less experienced and younger reserves.

The new coaching set up are finding out that most of the squad that are now fit are physically and mentally tired and therefore the change of coach has not brought about any improvement despite claiming to have made giant strides

And only an idiot would blame the coach for events outside his control. The lack of any improvement since the new coaches took over, despite having the benefit of new short term signings and players returning from injury, should have given you a clue

But had the coach not destroyed the youth set up during his tenure, he might well have had answers to his problems. Hetherington is not blameless, in the fact this went over his head, but McDermott clearly ruined the ongoing developments of players and the youth set up. Something seen by quite a few at the start, who stated at the time what would happen.

Good to hear that Leeds have been focussing on fitness over the long break, according to Walters in the YEP. But how on earth did the club end up in a position where a full time professional squad aren't fit enough to compete?

Genuine question, how much can be achieved fitness-wise in a couple of weeks? Its been a long time since I was even close to fit, but I would have thought if you were already close, you could get quite a lot done in 2 weeks?

It also allows them time to get over niggly injuries that might have been hampering their physical output
