To be honest as stupid as Clarke's comments were; it would be even stupider for him to go pitch side before the match. There will be enough tension in the stands pre-match and all it would do is wind the Leeds fans up - and if they were to react by throwing things or (heaven forbid) something worse, then it will be the club that pays the penalty. Cas were fined for chanting homophobic insults at a player - I dread to think how the RFL would react if a club's fans targeted one of the games paymaster's employees and actually caused him physical injury.
