Quote: Highbury Rhino "Players and coaching staff have more reason to get annoyed as the comments are aimed directly at their personal mate and colleague. If you deconstruct Clarke's witterings the notion he is proposing - that McGuire's career threatening injury is divine justice for an act of pretty minor 'cheating' (it wasn't cheating it was a foul - cheating implies a more considered, less spontaneous act) - then you have to wonder what the eejit Clarke would consider 'justice' for a more major act of real and systematic cheating? Like for example breaking the salary cap? If a club were to do that then all their playing staff and administrators should get the bubonic plague perhaps? As I say not worth getting exercised by...'"

I was aware Phil Clarke was trolling the first time I read his article.

I fully expected a bunch of ts to be foaming at the mouth and chomping upon it.

What I didn't expect was the same ted reaction from the Leeds coach, the England captain and sundry other players on Twitter.

Phil Clarke must be icon_lol.gif icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

LMAO at McClennan getting involved.

Has anyone mentioned his comments earlier on in the season to him yet?

Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "More misplaced chelping and lack of rational leadership focus from an increasingly embarrassing coach ahead of the most important fixture of the season. The only surprise being that he hasn't yet set up a Twitter account to make a complete twit of himself on there too. He seriously needs to STFU. All in stark contrast to the more professional approach of the Wigan coach who has maintained a dignified silence.

I do hope the rumours I've heard regarding his early departure and release from the one year contract extension are true. His time is up.

Phil Clarke by plenty.'"

With each post you edge further and further towards your previous incarnation.

How long is it going to be before we get the odd ‘Shag’?

Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "The context was my comment on Maguire's lack of comment on McGuire's action which generated McClennan's chelping comments on Clarke's comments on the aforementioned McGuire action'"
No it wasnt. You have lost your edge.
Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "
Perhaps the humorous troll nature of Clarke's comments cannot possibly be taken seriously by anyone apart from ts undergoing a sense of humour bypass.'"
maybe people feel someone suffering a serious injury isnt a particularly ripe area for poor attempts at irony. Its not a huge issue, it makes Clarke look classless and tasteless whether he was being serious or not.

Maybe if you have a car crash tomorrow and are sitting in a hospital bed wondering if you will be able to work again you and your work colleagues may also struggle to see the ironic humour in your predicament.

Id be a little disappointed in his professionalism as well if a public face of our game was using an players injury as an opportunity for trolling, its a fairly pathetic past-time to start with more suited to the lonely and socially maladjusted never mind his subject matter. icon_wink.gif

you seemed to have answered a different question to the one i asked aswell, which isnt like you icon_wink.gif

Quick Matron...... the smelling salts! Exeter is having one of his turns!

As you've just spent the afternoon brown nosing on the Wigan board, I don't think we can give much credence to your thoughts Mary Poppins.

ALL press releases will have been signed off by GH prior to release. icon_rolleyes.gif

That's brill. Go and post it on the Wigan Board. They've got a Phill Clarke mask thread.

I think Clarke saw an opportunity to ruffle a few Rhinos hairs.

The initial classlessness and tastelessness came from McClennan.

McGuire illegally took out Carmont and suffered a serious self-inflicted injury in the process.

McClennan (who appears to be losing the plot of late) immediately suffers a knee-jerk emotional reaction to that bad news by accusing a Wigan player of inflicting the injury on McGuire off the ball.

Meanwhile the Wigan players have got over the loss quickly and moved on whilst their more professional coach has maintained a dignified silence, hasn't got involved in any sh[ii[/it-stirring and is concentrating on preparations for the next game(s).

Up steps Phil Clarke to stir the pot.

And he's done it extremely successfully.

RL pundit from Sky TV being deliberately controversial, eh? Shock Horror! They aren't employed to be impartial... they are employed to generate hype, generate interest which in turn means generating more subscriptions to Sky Sports.

The Leeds coach, players and fans seriously need to get a grip before Saturday and quit relentlessly chomping and chelping. It ain't a good look.

Well he did it in a very tasteless way. The fact thats what he aimed to do doesnt mitigate it.

And that is relevent to Clarke because?
Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "

no he didnt, he suffered a chance injury in the normal course of a game. The fact it was suffered in committing a minor infringement is neither here nor there

Im comfortable with my coach showing emotion. His ability to build team spirit (an emotion after all) is reference by some very very experienced and successful players as helping THEM perform to the best of their abilities and win trophies.

Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "Meanwhile the Wigan players have got over the loss quickly and moved on whilst their more professional coach has maintained a dignified silence, hasn't got involved in any sh[ii[/it-stirring and is concentrating on preparations for the next game(s).'"
Because the actions of their players were indefensible. Im sure they regret it and didnt do it in full knowledge of Mcguire's injury, but they arent going to come out and apologise at this stage are they.

If Phil Clarke acts with such a lack of class he should be pulled up for it, I've no problem with Clarke being controversial, simply being offensive.

Im sure your limited knowledge of performing in a big game is of no interest to 3 time consecutive SL winners, a tri-nations winning coach, an GB captain or anyone else affiliated with the club.

They have been through controversies bigger than this and come out winners in the end and at the end of the week we will see if they can do it this year.

Show some class and put the Clarke comments to bed, it really will not help you this weekend. Clear heads are needed to win and I feel chanting obscene stuff at Phil Clarke on national TV will really show the club up in a bad light.

You're coach has voiced the opinion of the club and it should be left at that. I've no doubt Phil Clarke regrets the way his comments have been interpreted but at least he said what he was thinking and did not toe the party line. Maybe that's why he left his position of GB manager and why the international team is in such a mess.

I hope the best team wins this week and no player from either club is injured (or commentators lol).

Only from the perspective of a knee-jerking t perhaps.

It was a clear indication of a large number of rhinos ts just ripe for the picking 10.431640625:10
