Myler and Cuthbo introduction seemed to spark us quite a bit. Newman good again.

No realistically we won’t as we’re rebuilding. But once we hit the top five we’ll be there for next Ten years. You on the other hand forget it. Blame the Ref swear and shout homophobic abuse at him and that really helps.

There is something very funny about reading comments on here from posters who are trying desperately not to appear angry but can't hide it very well.

Watsons moaning about the ref now, I always think when coaches moan about the ref they just look like they are trying to deflect

I was happy with the performance as a whole. They might not be the same team they were last season but they still reached the grand final, so beating them and keeping them scoreless for 40 minutes in them conditions is big wraps for us. Gale, Myler, Cuthbertson superb. Newman going from strength to strength.

Hopefully Handley shakes off whatever happened with him.

The Ref was whistle happy & inconsistent for both Teams.
The 1st half was a mistake & penalty riddled grind which imo Salford deserved to lead at HT.
However 2nd half we took control thst was down to our better ruck speed (Myler at 9) & taking our chances.
Salford fans & Watson can whinge chelp & blame the Ref all they want they got plenty of "iffy" calls & Gale was taken off the ball at least twice without getting a penalty.
There were also numerous ball steals given as knock ons & vice versa.
We got what we deserved & imo Newman was our M.O.M closely followed by Prior & Ava.
Going forward we still lack size in the middle imo & apart from the break for Gales try id drop Dwyer to the bench Myler gives us much better control at the ptb & he listens to Gale when plays are there.
It was'nt great by any stretch but we adapted & got the 2pts.

Watson also mentioned they were at fault for Walker’s try, when in his words they were ‘still in the game’ but after all his ranting about the ref failed to mentioned the 4 penalties in a row to Salford, he comes across as a bit of a sore loser in that presser and when we are struggling to attract refs I don’t think a head coach calling them out in a press conference helps, at all.

I think the big ‘take away’ from this game is our ability to win when we’ve played poor and also the team spirit looks far better than it has been for a few years

The conditions spoiled the game for both sides. Rhinos played better in 2nd half and deserved the win. Newman getting better every game. Plenty of team spirit and well managed by Luke Gale. Warrington will be a good bench mark.

Could still use that big metre making prop we crave. We play some cute stuff at times but look laboured when trying to play a more orthodox game.

Great 70 mins from Prior! Newman worked hard and Myler links very well with Gale.
Tough day but a good 2 points.

I thought Prior was poor in the 1st half i have to say. Couple of silly penalties and handling errors and hardly took the ball in at all early doors.

One positive i have noticed is Jack Walker seems to have matured a lot this season and his game has changed slightly, he seems to be playing like a ‘proper’ full back and chiming into the line and his passing has improved no end IMO, a few of the trys weve scored he has been in the line and providing decent ball to the centres/wingers a bit like Webb did and also he is supporting the breaks more I have to think that is down to coaching so well done to the coaching staff on that one

100%. I would say his game is developing majorly not slightly.

I think Gale will be playing a large part in Walker’s improvement.

Agree with you and Christopher, thought walker very good yesterday and looks more composed overall. Also agree about Prior and I thought gale were both poor in first half but fair play to them, much improved in the 2nd. Playing a prop for 70 straight mins is a big ask and Prior I think would be better given a rest towards the end of first half.

Hope Handley is OK he was limping badly. I think Newman has earned the right in last 2 games to stay at centre v wire rather than being switched to wing. He ran really strongly again and looks hungry for it. Defence on that wing has not really been tested much in last. 2 games but for mine he’s earned that 3 shirt and should stay if keeps playing like he is.

If Handley is out I’m afraid to say I’d play Evans there rather than move Newman, he’s earned and cemented that centre spot IMO

Absolutely this. Wouldn’t be an issue. Handley only our 3rd best winger anway. Both Briscoes now should be ahead of him when all fit.
