| Find it extremely unlikely that you would appoint an assistant before your head coach.
Likewise, Danny McGuire hasn't done anything as yet to prove he should be either assistant or head coach at Leeds. We can't afford another 2-3 years of wasted time trialing McGuire. He could be a success or flop at this stage and we cannot afford the risk of another unsuccessful coach to further delay our growth. Let him prove himself for another three years at KR before considering him at Leeds.

| Leeds tried it time and again with bremner, Clarke, gray etc.
gray did ok but it never worked.
get an aussie in and let the players know he is staying so if they dont like it they can go

I was hinting at all the speculation about the new coach . Everyday a new candidate comes into the reckoning. I was saying Poching has had a few good wins it wont be long before someone is saying he's favourite for the job .

| The coach, Peter Williams, ( George Williams father) currently coaching in Perth, he comes recommended by Ricky Stewart, he is friends with Agar. Served his time with Wigan coaching their juniors, moved to Aus, now a coach in Perth. He has no experience of the NRL, Stewart rates the man highly as a coach.
GH will like him, he will be cheap, but with a OZ back ground he will have his own skills, may be a long shot, but this chap can do no worse that what we currently have in place

| Are Ablett or Bailey available? Delaney has done well at Leeds Uni and York. Maybe Delaney as HC with Bailey as his assistant? Ablett attacking coach.

Last I heard Bailey was a fireman and Ablett has set up his own plumbing business, so they’ve already got their hands full putting out fires and clearing up s5it.

For me personally, I would like to see him do well at another club before Leeds took the plunge.

David Walliams wouldn’t do much worse.
Ricky Stuart fell out with George Williams when he left Canberra so that sounds a bit odd but Agar knows Peter Williams.

I said Ricky Stuart speaks highly of Peter Williams, its on the internet if you look for it, I never say they were best friends.

| I know GH has said there will not be an exhaustive search for a head coach, but realistically, there's probably only about 4 options who can join part-way through the season. There's probably only 3 more you would realistically add to that list once if they'll wait til the off-season (I'd count Tony Smith/McGuire in that camp). So I can't imagine we'll be waiting long a decision.
Given the radio silence out of HQ, I imagine they're already in advanced talks to get a coach in as soon as possible.

| What is this obsession with getting in ex Leeds players?
Get rid of all of them and start a fresh culture.
It smacks of nepotism and we need to live for the future not the past.
We`re in this mess because of the old boys favouritism but we don`t seem to learn.

| GH visits Australia most years on the lookout for players.
Think he`s missed his little jaunt these past few years though.

| COVID has been a problem. Australia's borders only opened up very recently. He wouldn't have come looking for a coach had he visited this off-season in any event.

| So, Hetherington is off to Australia to interview coaches.
Who do we want?
My choice - in order would be:
1 - Shane Flanagan
2 - Cameron Ciraldo
3 - Stephen Kearney
4 - Paul Green
5 - John Cartwright
UK wise - Shaun Wane as an absolute last resort.
Knowing us, we'll end up with Ian Millward or Tony Rae.

| Reading club comments and media stuff it does seem more than likely your new coach will be an Aussie. Be interesting to see how quickly the successful candidate can be in place to how fast your season gets back on track because the current incumbent seems to be no better than his predecessor.

I think John Morris would be the perfect fit for Leeds. He is such an underated coach and dont forget, it was he that guided the sharks reserve team to the minor premiership. He also managed two 7th placed finishes in the NRL despite having no money to spend due to salary cap. It speaks volumes that when he was sacked, the senior players of cronulla wanted to go on strike.

| It’s an important call, but there is far more factors to come into play to revive our fortunes. Possibly the only thing we fans can control is to keep the faith and keep turning up. ‘When the going gets tough….’ And all that.

| Cartwright was poor as head coach (he was there when the party gang developed from whom we signed Beau Falloon), Kearney's record wasn't great and Green had no idea what to do when JT retired (a bit similar to Leeds post Golden Generation). Flanagan won the comp but there's a lot of suspicion over the peptide saga.
I'd rather go for an assistant coach who wants to prove themselves than one of the many failed head coaches around. Whether Ciraldo fits the bill or wants to move is another question.

| Kearney, absolutely no thanks, awful record as a club coach. Don’t know much about Ciraldo,
The rest not filling me with much confidence either.
Flanagan is the only one if real quality on that list, but a bit iffy and doubt he wants to cone over here.
