I really hope for both his sake and the clubs that his fluent "twaddleish" can lift the players. If so his reputation as a slightly bananas RL shaman will be cemented. If not he'll soon find out how very fickle fans can be and his coaching aspirations might suffer a huge setback. Hoping for the former.

| Rumours on Twitter is that there is unrest in the Hull KR camp, McGuire to come back to us as Number 2 to work with JJB then under whoever the new coach is.
And Sean Long to leave

Is this not exactly the sort of back to front decision making that's got us into this mess? A new head coach needs to have the freedom to bring in his own team.
No issues with Long leaving, he's been ineffective at best.

I suppose, although it doesn’t automatically mean it won’t work though. McGuire would be a big asset to the club IMO
Also saying Tony Smith wants to come back but wants a 4 year deal, Leeds want s 2 year deal with the idea McGuire takes over after those 2 years.
All sounds like BS to me!

It does to me too, but on timescales 4 years isn't too far off the mark IMO. I don't know the ins and outs of current player contract lengths, but assuming a reasonable spread, it'll take a minimum of 2 off seasons to reshape the playing squad to anything like what's needed, then time to really bed in. We've really got ourselves into such a hole, having wasted the last 3-4 years. In terms of getting us back to even competing, as the saying goes, I wouldn't start from here.

| JJB is a master of clichés, analogies and twaddle.
It`s as if he is low on intelligence and thinks if he can throw in some thing or use a big word or two it will make him look clever.
I`d be happy with McGuire coming back as he has got to be better than Long.
Be it under Carr or Smith.
I really don`t want JJB or Walker coaching at any level.
Looking at the team today it`s not too dissimilar to an Agar team.

What does that have to do with anything at all, not even relevant.

This line of thinking does my head in. The squad now can be there or thereabouts if well-coached. The standards of super league are basically crap, relatively speaking. Many of our players have way more class than they are producing.
You just end up in perpetual transition, always giving yourself an excuse...well we're still 2 seasons away, we missed out this season but still probably another 1 or 2 seasons away from probably challenging. It just goes on.
We were 2 seasons away from properly challenging, 2 seasons ago. What hetherington has allowed to happen under agar is unforgiveable.

Right now I'd have him back as a player. Seriously I really do think we should have no more former players. It looks like a long long road back .it needs completely rebuilding with new eyes

The forwards definitely need beefing up and we are relying on a young centre who is currently injured to provide attacking spark.I understand what you are saying about a quality coach, but I can't think of any NRL head coach or assistant that could do a fix up job.Can you?

| the key players, both half backs and hookers are awful, garbage.
only 1 decent centre.
thats a big rebuild and like others have said no ex players please as head coach. I'd have Danny ward running the reserves though

| You need to think what opposition teams must think when they prepare for game against Leeds
The centre who will be up against Briscoe must be thinking all his christmases have come at once. Briscoe has never been able to tackle all he ever does it try to block his opponent in the hope he passes the ball. Briscoe is not the sharpest knife in the draw and has for the last 5 years struggled with the concept of catching the ball and running in a vaguely forward trajectory to put the ball down somewhere over the line. Hopefully.
As a wing he has not produced a decent performance since scoring 5 in the challenge cup final. As a centre he seems scared and totally out of his depth just look how many times he is ahead of the line to block his opponent because he knows he is too slow to stop, turn and chase when his opposite centre dances past him time and time again. And he’s an improvement on Hurrell? Is he really? an empty bin bag would stop more than he does

McGuire may well be an asset to the club in some capacity (on the field after yesterday's performance) but bringing him in as AC then appointing a HC?

| All speculation we all know Willie Poching will be in the reckoning tomorrow. It will be very interesting, but I know its still early in the season, but we do need this turning round performance wise very quickly
