Absolutely - Aiton's a real catalyst in our forwards' go-forward. I dread it when he's subbed, let alone let go...

Better than the 2015 Darryl Clark? By an absolute street. Clark has been awful this year and absolutely outplayed by Brad Dwyer, who began the season at London FFS.
Aiton offers you more going forward than McIlorum, who is arguably a better defender.
Carry on with your list though. Better than Ian Henderson? Yes. Better than Luke Robinson? Yes. Better than Danny Houghton, Shaun Lunt, Adam Milner? By a mile.
So there are one, arguably two hookers in SL who are better players on their 2015 form than Paul Aiton. I think you may need to refine your definition of "average".

We only offered Hardaker his new deal in August last year when it was due to end October this year. We are not in August yet, and Aitons does not end until Octo re 2016.
I took from that interview that he will be staying, and a new deal given.

| It seems to me likely that he'll go.
Hard to blame him if he's been offered substantially more money but is he likely to win anything with them?
Such a pity when it appeared that our pack was looking pretty strong.
I guess it all depends on who we get as his replacement.

| You'd expect Michael Monoghan to recognise a good hooker when he sees one.
I guess that Ian Henderson is leaving.
Coming from PNG the heat in the south of France shouldn't bother Aiton.

If we lose Aiton without replacing him that must be the plan, with Robbie Ward getting more game time with a view to him becoming the principal hooker in 2017.
Unless someone else comes through from the U 19s.

| Hope the rumours about Houghton are true ,then . I would rather have him than Burrow at 9. Giving R Ward a chance from the bench is fair enough but we need a proper hooker.

Luckily he could lace his own boots on the many occasions that Buderus wasn't fit to lace his own. Like the title run in of 2009.

| Lovely stuff..just what the world needs: another Buderus vs Diskin argument
It does seem the rumours about Houghton now have some foundation.....but I too would have liked Aiton to have been offered enough to encourage him to stay. He has proven his worth.
However, of course we don't know what the salary cap strait jacket might have imposed IF the oft speculated, yet to be announced, "marquee" signing manifests itself.
For gawd's sake - either way - let's please not revert back to Burrow as starting hooker. All the recent good stuff done with the new ever better looking future pack and then potentially negate a lot of it by once more reintroducing our square peg back into the round hole.

| While aiton has been very good this season, he is hardly irreplaceable. Personally would prefer he stayed but if he doesn't want to stay good riddance.

I would agree with you.Thing that worries me is going back to Burrow as starting 9.Hopefully someone is going to replace him if he goes.

| Why would Aiton wish to leave the Rhinos?
If it's money and long term security he's chasing, then as long as we haven't offered the same then good on him and i hope that it works out for him should he move

Agree with that I like the look of Pelissier. And with us looking to have a decent sized pack next season it doesn't matter as much that he's not imposing in defence.
