| Quote: craigizzard "Hall didn't play the ball, he went in for the tackle. Keinhorst sort of squeezed the ball off Hall's arm and there was nothing Hall, who wasn't looking to play the ball, could have done about it. The sort of letter-of-the-law decision that shows the law (and Stuart Cummings) is an ass.'"
More worryingly, for me anyway, was the incident in the first half where the ball was knocked backward by a Wakey player, it hit Sutcliffe and was then picked up by a Leeds player in front of Sutcliffe.
Both Cummings and the ref were wrong. The ref gave a Wakey scrum for a Leeds knock on and Cummings said it should've been a penalty for offside.
The ref, even though he got it wrong, gets a pass. He has to make an instant decision.
Cummings had the benefit of a couple of Sky replays and still couldn't get the right call. It wasn't that long ago he stopped as head of refs, surely he remembers that a player can't knock on if he doesn't play at the ball. Does he know it's 4 points for a try now?

it one rule they have been consistent about all year, so why moan?'"
I agree it's something they've been consistent on, but they've been consistent on obstruction too...

What about Wakey getting a drop out early on in the game when BJB is forced back by one Wakey player who was clearly offside from the grubber through??

| You've gone from winning by 60 and 40 points to losing by 2.
That isn't down to some 50-50 decisions by the ref.

Maybe nobody has mentioned it because it didn't happen?

Granted just pointing out that for a Walters ball steal, a Wakey offside for a drop out can be a counter claim to the other poster's "he said she said" kinda argument.

| The video ref is being over used ...and is killing the game.
Why not rewind the whole bluddy match at half time and look for other things originally 'missed' !!!? Techically it would be the right thing to do.

Agreed.
It's gone from helping the ref make a decision (eg whether a player grounds the ball) to overruling the referee.
Refs are now deliberately not making decisions in the hope a try is scored so that they can go to the VR.
Players would be advised now to get tackled after an incident (like the McGuire one) rather than attempt to score.

I was hoping McGuire got tackled 5m short because it'd looked certain it would be pulled back.
I doubt it'll happen but wonder if players start getting themselves tackled when they could've scored, suppose you shouldn't take that risk and always dive over and in the heat of the moment can't be thinking "are the Sky cameras here?" and "is the VR an option".

| If I see one more perfectly good try chalked off because a pass was caught a fraction of a millimetre on the wrong side of a dummy runner’s shoulder I swear I’ll drive up to Beckett and stick those ref’s whistles in a place where they can only be heard after a meal of beans, prunes and cabbage.

But then it's not a "perfectly good try".
The obstruction rule has been improperly implemented. It's now being interpreted to the letter of the law, and pretty consistently. Fans can't have it both ways.
You can't scream for consistency, then when you get it kick off because it's not the decisions you want.

| I'd no issues with the lad reffing Friday. Thought he did a pretty good job to be honest.

He was easily an improvement on Hicks from the previous week.
