| If he went at the end of the season my response would be the same as when he signed - no more than a shrug of the shoulders.
If he did leave mid season that would be a problem though. Can't see him going then though. The financial advantage would be small for Leeds but there would be the loss of a first 17 player for the business end of the season.

| The one thing that we can trust from that article is that Buderus has been offered a new contract with Leeds. *If* he signs it, and McShane returns, I imagine that means that Diskin will be on his way.

Unless McShane goes on a season long loan with a recall clause like BJB did with the Quins....

| I can't see Buderus leaving before his contract expires at the end of the season
Is his agent simply "upping the ante" in the hope of putting pressure on the Rhinos regarding a contract extension for next season, should we wish his services?
Didn't Buderus state that he wouldn't play for another NRL club after spending the whole of his career at the Newcastle Knights, hence his move to the Rhinos?
I would envisage that when he does return home that he will be employed by the Knights

| It was also The Daily Telegraph that reckoned Matt Orford was homesick and wanted out of his contract early, which Orford has since rubbished. They share the same agent, and as Orford also stated, Mimis is over here on a scheduled visit seeing a whole load of British-based players on his books, and "That's the Sydney media for you".

That would do me just fine (with Burrow as back up 'impact hooker' off the bench)
I can't believe those who will give a 'shrug of the shoulders' or indeed actually wish Buderus gone. He makes a VAST difference on the pitch to Diskin. I wish Diskin well ...but how anybody can prefer him to Budertus is beyond me. Thank the gods.... (actually I don't believe in any of them, nor the possibility of the creator's creator, nor the creator of the creator's creator......but it's a convenient expression).... that some on here can actually see through the fog of past glories and GF medals.

| If he goes back to Australia it will be the Knights or nothing as he's stated before. I really hope he has been offered a contract by Leeds and that he signs it. Let him play 70 odd mins next year and off-load Disko.

Maybe its the ability to see the bigger picture?
Buderus would be nearly 34 by the end of next season, and is already way past his prime.
As it stands he is almost certainly the best paid player at the club and some might argue hasn't represented good value relative to that outlay. In the era of the salary cap a player has to represent value relative to his cost and the proportion of overall spend his salary represents.
People could certainly make a case for him still being a good player but his age and likely salary demands mean that I couldn't get excited either way about a new contract for him next year.

| I doubt very much he'll leave before the end of the season. I suspect that even if he wants to go back to Aus he'll consider Leeds unfinished business and to be frank his reputation a bit on the line.
BTW the issue about younger players learning off old hands is entirely valid - you simply don't learn on the training ground what you do in match conditions. McShane has been around Buderus for a year and a half. I'm sure he's laerned a few tricks. But would anyone argue right now he's ready to take over full time? No. Why not? Because he's barely played a first team game.

He was one of the shining lights in pre-season and I recon he would of done pretty well for Leeds this season hasn’t it been for the circumstances.
However I recon Buderus has got more than a few good games left in him at Leeds. I just hope that when he finally leaves we don’t have Matt Diskin gone by then. I think that’s the main worrying thing about this hooker factor we have going on at Leeds.

| Heck Damo I agree with you. How so many people can seemingly be happy to see Diskin (that would be our 4-time Grand Final winning hooker) leave is beyond me. Buderus is here for this season and I hope we win evrything with him in the side. After that who knows? Personally I prefer to see locals in the team wherever possible - I think its a cornerstone of the team spirit in the side to have so many Leeds juniors in the side.

| He's been great to watch and I wish him all the best but I want to see Diskin & McShane next near.
