| My honest option of sir Kev is that he is class.
I also support liverpool. Best way to describe him is, when I see Stevie gerrard on the team sheet I know we have a chance. Same goes for kev. Watched the 1999 cup winning DVD the other night(when he played a couple of games leading to the final) The fact that he is STILL playing at the highest level. Has been voted the worlds best player, regardless of what any Aussie says.
He's awesome and it's been a pleasure to watch a leeds player in my time that can be considered to be the greatest. Cheers.

| Chase runs from touch line to touch line, and Sinfield, does something, I assume, not sure what though.
He like the coach will do the decent thing after this tournament. We need halves that go forward, not sideways, and we need a real 9 playing at 9.
Throughout his career he has had his average spells, but he has also been very very good.
Would love to see Burrow and Widdop given a go in the halves vs Fiji at Chase and Sinfield are very poor.

| Great pro who has been excellent for Leeds but an international HB he is not. Put the Aussie Half backs in the England team and we would have won last week. When he stepped into The hookers role today our performance suffered.

| Sinfield was one of our better players last week, even acknowledged in the Aussie press.
He did nothing wrong today either yet he still gets hammered by the keyboard warriors who have their de - fault settings to 'blame Sinfield'.
Who else is the answer? Widdop? im sorry, but i really fail to buy into the hype. However, im sure he will get his chance to prove himself as England's saviour after this comp.Sinfield certainly has his shortcomings, but he is the best we have in the role that is being asked of him and he will be playing that role for the rest of the WC wether people like it or not.

| Wherever he should be played is not at hooker. Also I noticed that when someone made a half break Shinfield was always on their shoulder in support. He may not have finished off the breaks but he was more likely to than the others not able to read the game as well

| It's all about having a balanced team. I personally don't see Kev's best position being in the halves, but can see the merits of having him there.
Chase is very much a flair off the cuff type of half back. Who will drift out of games looking for his opportunity. Whilst Kev will be involved multiple times in every set of 6 and keep the team moving. It's obvious to see he's lacking in pace, but it isn't the be all and end all. When I was younger and starting out as a half back, I had pace to burn. But I'd be in awe of the older guys who could dictate a match without needing it.
Kev's leadership quality and organisational skills are up there as the best in the game. With a 3/4 line like we have, does he really need to be that fast?
Can't understand why he's attracting the criticism. Lockyer wasn't the fastest at the end of his career.

| Widdop has had 20 minutes at the end of each of the two games, against tired defences.
He's done absolutely diddly squat in attack (one chip kick to Briscoe yesterday apart) and looked a turnstile in defence.
No doubt if you give him 80 against a second-rate team like Fiji he'll go ok, but against the Aussies or Kiwis I would have zero confidence in asking him to run the game at take the side around the park like Sinfield does.

Exactly.its quite one thing looking decent whilst holding the hands of two of the best playmakers in world rugby and quite another being asked to do it yourself and against the best.

Lockyer is in a different class to Sinfield's, for that matter he was in a different class from most players.

You've hit the nail on the head, we don't have any good halves. If we had Thurston then we would have an outside chance of winning the World Cup, sadly Sinfield is neither creative enough nor does he have the pace to cause the Roos or Kiwis problems. I am not singling him out for criticism he has been a great SL player but he doesn't have what it takes to be successful at this level so late in his career.

'If only we had Thurston'... that's such an easy thing to say and stands for most of the tests i have watched since the days we could match them with the likes of Schofield and Gregory circa 1990.
In the time since they have had Langer,Stuart,Daley,Fittler,Kimmorley,Johns,Lockyer and Thurston all of whom have outclassed our halves on the big stage 95% of the time and would have made a huge difference should we have had them playing for us.Facts are we just dont produce the halves at the level the Aussies can.
Sinfield is certainly not at the level of those mentioned above as a half back, but is the best we have as far as the balance of the side is concerned.
