Absolutely no problem with this as far as I’m concerned (as a Cas supporter).
Cas have been offered a sum of money they believe is fair and Luke has been offered a fantastic deal. He only had one year left on his Cas deal (with an optional year at the club’s discretion) so any further injury would have seen him out of contract and in a very weak position to negotiate his next contract. As it is, he’s got a guaranteed high income for the final years of his career, regardless of future fitness.
I think it’s a gamble from Leeds’ point of view, but that’s rather off-set by the fact that if named as a marquee player, only 75k of Gale’s salary will count towards the cap. That could be a very astute bit of business for Leeds and allow more spending elsewhere.
I wish him well. He’s been nothing but exceptional during his time at Cas. From 2015-2017 he was outstanding. But he’s barely played for two years, and you can’t miss something you haven’t had.
He deserves the opportunity to make as much money as he can in the final years of his career.

Not sure about that Gregory didn't hardly ever make it to training.

I should think Gale will have done quite well out of this too .Apart from his salary he will probably got a % of the fee ?

Prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but not expecting Gale to be a miracle worker.

Signings in other positions - e.g. prop, winger

Thoroughly underwhelmed. One reasonable season in the last 10 doesn't cut it for me, he's been invisible in every major game he has played. For all Myler's faults we'll miss his commitment and defence.

If you’re playing a scrum half because of his commitment and defence, you’ve got the wrong scrum half.

Gale will go well for Leeds if we sort out the front row.

I wouldnt worry about major games and finals because I don't think we'll be there or thereabouts for a couple of years yet.

If Myler goes and it ends up being near enough a straight swap salary wise it's a very good bit of business providing we can keep him fit.

Ultimately, he improves what we already have if we can get him on the pitch often enough and on that basis alone its a good signing for me.

When I first heard of the Gale rumours I was very underwhelmed. However that was on the basis of him taking up a large chunk of the salary cap. However, if the rumours are to be believed that due to all the dispensations (England player, trained at club etc etc) if he only counts on the cap as £75k then I reckon that is a fantastic piece of business. What else could you get on the current market for £75k a year?
