Mark O Meley apparently coaches " the middles" at Newcastle Knights he sounds perfect for Leeds with our love o a " middle"

Didn't the club one day want to create like a link between Newcastle Knights in NRL & The Rhinos here in SL. Danny Buderus was keen for young NRL talent from the Knights to maybe spend sometime on loan with the Rhinos and get first grade rugby when he first became Director of Rugby at Knights. If O'Meley is coaching for them could be a way to force this link between the two now?

Maybe i've just seen too much JJB now but what is endearing/ interesting as a player, analyst or public speaker very quickly becomes all sorts of levels of BS when he's the head coach of our club where facts and performance and reality are more important than his love of a narrative arc and story telling.

I wish JJB luck. Will be very interesting to see whether we get any kind of response to Agar's departure. I'm worried that we get some short-term bounce that means GH takes seriously the idea of JJB as head coach.

One thing I’d say about JJB is that he’s a leader a winner and a great motivator which hopefully will help lift the players in the short term at least

Does he motivate you Treebs? He does opposite for me. I put his presser on yesterday and turned it off after 5 mins cos i just cant listen to his rambling. God knows what a 22 year old player must think.

Anyway, lets hope he gets some response out of them cos we badly need it.

Each to their own. I feel more confident his approach will get a better response out of the team than agar. He's more articulate, passionate and insightful as a person than your average coach thats put in front of the camera.

I enjoyed it, whatever people think of JJB he’s certainly different, who knows he might give the side a bit of a lift.

His bit about the halves was interesting, he also said he might need to try something a bit different to get them firing.

Have to agree, his waffle is ok in small doses and in the right setting, his 30 mins press conference as head coach was too much for me. Hope im wrong and he inspires our playing group with it, but i would imagine it will soon become tiresome.

Agree, I barely got through it, just repeating the same cod philosophy and stories.

JJB could have the motivational skills of Brian Mclennan (which is very doubtful) and he'd still be the wrong person for the job.

Right now we need a team builder of a coach not a rabble rouser, even if the latter might have some short-term effect.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting he gets the job full time, but we are where we are.

I'm not saying he's the man for the job going forward, I do though think that the psychology of players and the mental preparation massively lacks consideration and that would be a priority of Jamie's. And even in the short team it's clear the team needs this.

Maybe a 22 year old player who’s playing in a team with no confidence might listen to someone who has gone through some adversity and built his successful career through hard work and determination.

And importantly enjoying what he does too. I'm a real cynic at heart and as an atheist his talk of spiritual faith does nothing for me but I know who I'd rather be lead by when the chips are down.

What we need right now is someone who's going to get us out of a relegation battle.
JJB might get a reaction and get some points on the board to do that.
But he's obviously not the long term answer - surely GH sees that.
We need to take our time to appoint someone to get the club back in the top 4 and challenging for trophies.
That's not JJB.

I think he's seen something in him that he really likes.

As much as I liked JJB as a player, I find his rambling tiresome and would probably have a negative effect on motivation.

I am concerned as I see no traits that will make him a good coach, and our record defensively under him this season has been poor. I feel we could get even worse (if that's even possible) under his stewardship and thus, require the new coach bringing in ASAP. Likewise, we don't want to rush an appointment and recruit another poor choice. We are not in a great position as it currently stands.

Maybe his motivational ‘ramblings’ might work in the interim, clearly Agars motivational talks weren’t helping.

Yes he does and i know a few ex players have come out and said exactly the same and I'm sure Kev would say the same too. I'm not for one minute suggesting he's the long term answer but I'm getting behind him for now, he deserves that at least.

On the back of being in squad with a number of exceptional once-in-a-generation players: Sinfield, McGuire, Senior, Burrow, Ali etc.

Perhaps a 22 year old might look at JJB and think - you were fortunate to have the success you had. It isn't Danny McGuire or Kevin Sinfield stood up talking.

If that 22 year old did think that then they’ve got a terrible attitude.

JJB himself would be the first to say he was fortunate to play alongside those players, but it doesn’t automatically make his part in that side redundant or just luck does it.

The way some of our fans are disparaging to some of our players and ex players is strange.

I wish him well, but he was part of some dreadful teams post 2017, and there wasn't much evidence that his leadership had any impact as a player.

I found his presser overlong and full of waffle. But he can waffle till the cows come home if we get a few wins on the board. Don't think for a minute that he is a credible candidate for the job and I'd be stunned if GH did. As a player he played a part in a magnificent era for the club. Whether he was a great player, or not, is neither here nor there.
