| I remember a fight during an academy game quite a few moons ago where every man on the pitch was involved and it spilled into the South Stand, that was quite tasty
may have been against Halifax ![THINK eusa_think.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//eusa_think.gif)

the widnes packs that contained tamati, sorensen, gorley, moriarty et al always trod a fine line between thuggery & hardness

| Everyone knows the dirtiest player ever is Ryan Bailey.
Gary Mason played a short while for the London Broncos Academy, wouldn't have fancied taking him on in a fight.

Three punches and he rightly started walking before the ref even got his hand in his pocket! ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif) He WAS the Marines' heavyweight boxing champion, mind!
Hard men for Bulls in the SL era - I'd always have Sir Bernard Dwyer up there with the best of them.

| I've said this before - Les Boyd was not a hard man. He was a thug, a king-hit merchant who looked to take players out of the game by any means.
Among overseas players, the Kiwis of the 80s like Broadhurst and the Tamatis were proper hard men, along with the likes of Kevin Ward (who Paul Vautin rates as probably the toughest person he's ever played with).

| Quote ="Era of the Biff"Already touched on slightly in the other thread but I think it deserves its own.
Present day or historically. Not necessarily dirty but can be if you like that kind of player.
Apparently it's Les Boyd. Who do you think it is/was? I think the fella in my sig was a tough competitor.
'"
Had an interesting chat with an old Aussie guy in my hotel bar last week and he talked about Les Boyd. He was a Queenslander so may have been slightly biased, but he hated the guy. Thought he was (and I use his own definition) house on the pitch and a s1hihouse off the pitch. Apparantly a guy who could be as dirty and unpleasant in a bar as he was palying RL. I personaly remeber one epic clash between Boyd and Kurt Sorenson when they were at Warrington and Widnes. A telented player with a horrible temprement who had an innability to draw any line in his behaviour.

I have said this before on some similar thread years ago, but if I was going to pick a guy as the hardest player I'd seen it would have to be the man in your avatar. To know you are going to get smacked in the face off the ball after you pass and yet still run with your head up, still concentrate completely on the pass, and still delay the pass to perfection? How many "hard" men were sent off for stiff arming him late when he wasn't looking over his career (I remember one year they intorduced the sin bin it was around 14 yellow and one red card and one broken jaw)?

No he didn't. He hit three of our lads, but none of them went down, despite what Bulls rose tinted memories may think.
They were good punches, true, but it's been embellished so much by time.
And Tallis thought he was hard, but still went crying to the RFL about being picked on by Morley following a GB/Aus test.

In my usual pedantic mode I'd always thought he was known as the "Wall with Eyes."
I once got in a lift with him & he was massive & completely square.
Dave Gillespie was known as Cement I believe.
For dirtyness how about Chris "Clotheshanger" Burton?
Hard, try Alan Prescott who played a almost a full test against the Aussies with a broken arm.

His nephew (Blake) made his NRL debut last week for Wests Tigers. He was mostly harmless.
