| Just a bad day at the office. We were really poor and the best team won. But some ridiculous over-reactions on here.
Most of the team had a bad day. Gannon, Hall, O'Connor, Newman all had poor games. And someone please stop Handley making stupid captains challenges. The forwards could not get on top and therefore Connor and Croft were hardly in the game. Lisone was the only forward who really took it to them - the smash into Delaney was a thing of beauty.
Loved the honesty of Arthur after the game. We thought we just had to turn up to win. He'll be all over them this week about attitude - and rightly so.
Great opportunity against Leigh on Friday to put it right. And then Saints at HQ in a few weeks. So, I don't think we need to sack the entire team just yet....

| Hopefully the attitude changes substantially next week, especially ball in hand. Definitely drifting back into the worst of the Rohan era 'try to score on every play then knock on' when in possession.
I don't think there's much to be gained in pulling out individuals, pretty much everyone made an error at some point (maybe Lisone aside, but he's not on the field much). Hall is making me nervous when we're defending, jumping off his line to try to shut things down (like Fusitua). I doubt coaching will stop this, but we did look a bit exposed out wide. Bentley was frustrating to watch again, especially after he nearly cost us the game against Wakefield with his indiscipline. Why isn't Jenkins getting picked?
We regularly lost games like this in the golden era, hopefully just a bad day at the office. We need the whole team to step up, especially the senior players, to make sure we don't go back to the win-one-lose-one-repeat mentality. I thought Saints came with the perfect game plan to put us back in the Rohanball mentality, and they worked harder than us. Compare the two captain's challenges in the first half. A lot to learn from.

| We were poor, however, if we stick to a ratio of 5 wins and one loss, I'll take that, but I guess it is how we respond to Friday.
I do think the team has an attitude problem, however, it seems to have improved this season. Last year we constantly underperformed when expected to win, with players believing they only had to turn up to win.
I agree with the sentiment regarding Handley and captains call. He has made some ridiculous calls and shows he is not the wisest of captains. I also remain unconvinced regarding him as a centre. He has had some good inputs but I find him a much better winger. We get much more bang for our buck with him as a winger.
I don't want to over criticize players when I'm sure we'll turn it around but O'Connor is not good enough as a starting hooker for us. We need a better passer. Bentley too is not good enough. They are both in for their tackling and nothing more.
I would personally also like to see ECW come in for Lumb but that's mainly to see how ECW gets on. I think there are a few errors in Lumb too.

| Wilkin is just a reactionary tool who loves putting the boot into Leeds.
We completely failed to get off the coach and Saints put us to the sword from our own mistakes. Just do the playback of this game and all the resulting kicking up the harris's then move on.

| I never get the grief Wilkin gets other than Leeds supporters disliking anyone having a bad word against Leeds.
I've always thought he is honest. There were games under Rohan where he could have really stuck the knife in but he didn't.

| Just head over to some of the Wire forums to remind yourselves what a state we were in 18 months ago.
And it shows that it doesn't actually take a lot to turn things around. Right person in charge, couple of additions, clear some dead wood, change in attitude and things can look very different.

| The word “attitude” has been used a lot on this thread but I don’t think that’s anything to do with why we lost. If it was anything to do with a poor team or individual attitude I can’t understand why Brad Arthur would go unscathed on the forum. He instills the attitude, he prepared and travelled with the team, and he had chance to address a “poor attitude” at half time if that was the case. I think we were beaten in all aspects of the game on Friday, physically, technically, the dark arts, structure, decision making and any other areas we competed in. It might have just been a bad day, they happen, or it might be a truer indication of where we are compared to our rivals. We currently sit 1-2 down against Saints this season, if we get turned over in a few weeks time then it’s pretty unequivocal for me where we are quality wise compared to Saints. Beat them and it’s 2 apiece, sweet revenge and it hopefully means this was just a bad day at the office after a pretty good run.

I took his references to attitude being attitude to the basics. Holding onto the ball, being clean in defence (he was particularly irked by this as he made a point about it being a focus in training). Both lead to a loss of possession/field position. Then not having the right attitude in dealing with this, so instead of patience, building pressure and getting back into the game, looking for the miracle offload, trying to score from every set. Then , when that doesn't come off (it seldom does in RL), back to attitude to the basics, more dropped ball, more pens etc. And round and round we go. It's contagious and not easy to break within 80 mins. But then so is starting on the right foot and doing the basics well from the start. I'm sure we'll see the latter on Friday night.

| I'll judge where we are versus Saints on where we finish in the table rather than on the head to head results.

| One thing we do need to get sorted for Friday is our right edge. We are conceding tries where the opposing 2nd row or centre crosses almost untouched with Newman typically way up field having shot out of the line. Don't know if this is just a Harry error or whether it's something more systemic. Either way it needs sorting. That Leigh left edge is arguably the best in the game and Lam & Armstrong are quite capable of running riot.

| Think you can also add Hall to the shooting out of the line too. You would think our left edge would be weaker with Handley moving to centre and Lumb a novice. Maybe the left edge gets more cover from the second rower? Is that Gannon/Bentley?
