If Frawley does go this year I'd be surprised if we fill the spot before next season. Depending on available cap I think we might go like for like and fill the 2nd row spot that Gannon's departure will create with a NRL replacement. Maybe somebody like Ryan Matterson, if we could afford him. We don’t need to replace Frawley, Connor will get the 7 shirt with Sinfield as backup. I don’t think we’ll see many signings, maybe like you say an NRL backrower but that will be it. Lots of the younger players will be coming ‘on cap’ and personally I think the idea of keeping a settled squad is better than too many changes. Yep. I think we'll see one incoming assuming Lisone resigns. Watkins was effectively a signing this year on next year's cap given the Sivo exemption. With the Sivo’s return, we effectively have what's left over from Watkins wage, the young players who will enter onto the cap, and the funds from the departures of Gannon Frawley and ECW to play with. Continuity will have to be the watchword.

If I had a choice, I'd like us to get Herbie Farnworth from the Dolphins.
Wouldn't be classed as a quota spot and is a quality centre. Tackle breaker and try scorer, as well as being able to supply his winger
Absolutely no chance of that happening. Interesting point is this. I agree there's zero chance of it happening, but is that because we don't have the cash to tempt him or because, even if we did, regardless of what we paid him, he wouldn't leave the NRL at this stage of his career. He’s on $850,000 dollars a year. Whilst we could put him as Marquee that would mean dropping a current marquee salary and we would have to be paying him quite a bit more than he’s in to tempt him away from the NRL. He’s lived there since a teenager, in his prime and considered one of the best in the NRL. Those types of players coming to the SL are long gone. Yep.If he qualified he would be playing Origin.

I don't disagree. My question was one of principle. If enough money was offered, and assuming the marquee rule was adhered to, could any SL club attract an individual of Farnworth's quality, in their pomp, or is the quality of the NRL too much of a draw for them.

No team in SL can afford or attract anyone of his quality in the NRL, maybe when he’s 32/33 and ending his career. As I say the days of attracting those sorts of players are long gone.

We've not got a cat in hells chance of signing the elite young superstars in the NRL. We will ultimately get them in the latter years of their careers, and by that time you don't know what their physical conditions are or also their intentions upon landing in SL. Take a look at players like Luke Keary and Tevita Pangai Junior for example, who have both come over for a holiday judging by their performance so far this season at Catalans

| Croft is a bit of an enigma, the quality is undoubtably there but he seems to be going through the motions sometimes.
Hes just back from a layoff and feeling his way back in I suppose .

| I seem to be in the minority but I thought Croft was class last weekend, possibly contender for MoM. He seems to be growing in his partnership with Connor and I can only see him getting better. At last he is playing in a team with a partner and structure that suits him, still not the player we thought we were getting but getting closer week by week.

Croft was excellent against Warrington I think we've got to remember there hasn't been a settled spine really but the Miller/Croft/Connor spine looks to be working a treat and will only get better as long as they can all stay fit. Croft is better when he can pick ad choose to inject himself rather than being the main halfback, and Connor has surprised me how he has grown into the controlling halfback role, I think that is what he has needed all his career. He has been shifted around positions and never settled into particular role.

Not at all, i rate him highly and i think he's copped unfair criticism at times. He's a very good player. Things have been a mess around him since he signed until Arthur and Blease came in and sorted it all out, he's now playing much better.

I thought he was our best player last year and indeed still one of the best in the league playing behind a pack that got demolished every week. Now, with Connor playing as proper seven, and a much more polished version of Miller to play off, I think he's quite capable of lighting up the comp. He does the tough stuff too, off hand I'd say is one on one defence is the best (for a half) I've seen at the club since Cliff Lyons. The priority for Blease should be keeping the current spine together for the next two to three years.
