Quote: Once were Loiners "This is going to sound harsh, but we cannot keep carrying long-term injured in our squad. If Holroyd's shoulder or concussion issues mean he can't be available and play to a high enough standard then we need to move on from him. Ditto Gannon and Simpson. That's 3 players, or more than 10% of our squad, who played virtually no part this year. I know they can be scrubbed from the cap in a given season, but if they do come back others have to make way for them, and they have to be included in cap planning.'"
I would agree, and this season will be telling for those you've mentioned.. but.. I have a lot more sympathy and patience with home grown players than I would with a player like Fus. I doubt any of those you've mentioned have much impact on the cap, and if clubs took this view with all their players we wouldn't have had JJB and other players like Tom Johnson never would have made it in SL.
It can't be indefinite, but it is a different story to an overseas player on big money in the same situation. Plus the fact all three have massive potential, with Holroyd and Gannon particularly being in or around the England set-up at various times.
