It is easier to divulge the essence of bark in Tunisia while gyrating on a toadstool covered in plain flour as opposed to self raising flour. Supreme Grand Knight of the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine. Powered by phpBB 2.0.1 ? 2001 phpBB Group:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_5128.jpg

Whinos is a very apt description of the Leeds faithful.

Quote: ThePrinter "I know some are saying now that shoulder charges are banned shouldn't all offences be a red/yellow card but I think they have to be treated the same as head high tackles.....some are worthy of dismissal, some a simple penalty while do.'"

I'd agree with that.

All shoulder charges should now be penalised as a matter of routine, although it appears some won't be (such as for example Huby on Ah Van last week in the Castleford V Widnes game) and you'd expect any that make contact with an opponent's head should result in a red card - this was already becoming the case in 2012 even before the shoulder charge was banned.

Jon Wilkin should have a case to answer after his challenge on Dobson yesterday.

__________

After the Gardner one on Welham, why wasn't the Hodgson 'try' allowed to stand? It appeared that Silverwood ruled a knock-on yet Hodgson got his leg to the ball before it hit the deck to propel it forward before it hit the ground and I thought after a Dave Halley 'no try' ruling in a Bradford -Leeds game from a few seasons back - the rule book geeks had determined that that didn't constitute a knock-on.

I thought that when I watched the game too. Maybe it was Hodgson 'giving himself up', had he after putting the ball down got up celebrating a try then Silverwood MIGHT'VE gone to the screen, but he kind of just 'owned up' to knocking on.

I'd have to check but I got the impression at the time that Silverwood had already blown for the knock-on before Hodgson followed up to touch-down. That might excuse Hodgson's poor attempt at claiming the score.

Personally I don't think such instances should be play-on (as I argued at the time in regards the Dave Halley incident) but if it's covered in the laws the referee should apply the correct ruling.

I suppose it depends on the player. When Leeds recently played Catalans one of their players got up and looked certain he'd scored a try, when they went to the screen Vickery had clearly knocked it out for a drop-out before the Catalans player got there.

As Hodgson was only about 5 yards out he could've just plonked the ball down regardless and then asked the question, however i don't think Silverwood is the type to change his mind so probably would've been fruitless.

I think both players in those incidents were playing to the whistle which is why I imagine Mathias Pala claimed the score and David Hodgson didn't.

In fairness to Hodgson he probably felt gutted that he'd spilled the pass with the line at his mercy.
