Quote G1="G1"I saw it mentioned elsewhere but I do suspect there has been some success fatigue on the part of our fan base, given that the team has reached 11 out of the last 19 major domestic finals.'"
This is undoubtedly correct to a degree but doesn't tell the whole tale. On both a conscious and subconscious level, there's a feeling of fatigue with the whole product - the lack of credible competitive opponents, the average and below average displays that are still good enough to secure wins on most occasions, the deep-down feeling that it only takes one good or one half decent performance all season to reach either of the finals on offer.
Reaching a final is a bit like one of those journeys where someone has over-indulged at an all-you-can-eat binge restaurant which specialises in serving up fast utility food. There's lots of quantity on offer but very little quality. Some of it tastes ok but a lot of it tastes crap and it's mostly salt and fat. After numerous servings you end up feeling underwhelmed, fatigued, sick and bloated and wished you'd never eaten there in the first place.
