| Quote Gotcha="Gotcha"Whilst I agree with what you are saying for the bigger picture, I still think the action they have immediately taken here is a good one. I honestly think all clubs should follow the same move also. Restrict it to the concourse and bar areas only, and don't allow into the spectator area.'"
Disagree in general. It is only a tiny minority of fans who cause any trouble at RL matches. Would removing/limiting alcohol make a difference? I very much doubt it, so the only thing this would acheive is to punish the 99.9% of fans who do enjoy a drink at the game and know how to behave like a human being

The only games I would stop people taking drink onto the terraces are the CC Final, the Grand Final and possibly at a push the CC semi-finals, just to stop people getting very occasionally covered in beer TBH!
This achieves nothing and does nothing to tackle Hull FC's current problems and issues. They are only doing it to potentially avoid an RFL fine and because it is easy! As I said they want everyone to think they are doing something but they are actually doing nothing!
So, where is the press release saying that they are going to stop the young idiots gathering in Chav corner, by having identified people making rude or other gestures towards the away fans over the course of a season and banned them for accessing that stand? Where is the press release saying that they will put on more stewards at bigger more key games to ensure that idiots are not allowed to get onto the pitch in the first place?
All clubs have idiots and problems, but most clubs acknowledge that and do something about it (we did and do), Hull continue to ignore theirs in the hope they will go away!

| I think it's simply common sense to ban the consumption of alcohol at potential unruly sporting events, and especially for this next match which has trouble writ large all over it.
Doesn't stop the f'tards getting tanked up in the nearest boozer, but that's where a robustly enforced entrance policy comes into play. It's a sensible move by the both Hull and the stadium management company, and most likely has the backing of the Police as well.

| Quote Norman Stanley Fletcher="Norman Stanley Fletcher"I'd make them play a couple of games behind closed doors. That'd teach 'em.Unfortunately they're that skint it'd probably send them under plus on a more selfish note, the sleeve wouldn't get any off kaff which would mean we'd have to loan our entire academy side to them for him to get back in the good books.

Except we're not skint. Far from it. We are only one of two Super League clubs to make a profit in their latest accounts, the other one being your mob.
Still, why let the facts get in the way of a witty post?

If you read the corresponding thread on their forum you'll see lots of Hull supporters complaining about the issue of idiots bringing beer to their seats and that beer then ending up soaking someone at some point in the game, too many of them to be 99.9% behaving like a human being, you'll also find an awful lot of Hull supporters actually agreeing with this action, until last year you couldn't take beer to your seats in the stadium but an appeal by their supporters group allowed the concession at rugby games, many of those posting said they didn't agree with the policy then and they're happy its been revoked even just for one game now.
I think its a good idea, and as one poster on their forum said, you can still drink on the concourse before the ,match and at half time, if a person can't go 40 minutes without a pint in their hand then frankly they are in need of some help with their problem.

| Quote G1="G1"To be honest IA I was impressed with Rule's statement and the action he has taken. I also liked that he charged the decent Hull fans with taking on some responsibility for dealing with this.
A refreshing difference to the Hulls fans who during the last couple of days have said "it's not our problem, it's the SMCs".'"
I think that asking the fans to take responsibility is the only good bit and fully support that bit of the statement BUT they must do something with the information they receive... they haven't before as far as I am aware!
My wife will go nuts when I tell her, she specialises in internal communications and culture change in large organisations! The is exactly the opposite approach she would and does take with culture and disciplinary issues in those organisations and do you know what, she gets results every time! The first thing she does is tear up all the general rules, saying you can't do this, can't do that, we have banned this because one person once abused it so now you all must suffer rules and tackle the issues and the specific individuals and groups causing the problems!
The issue is, I don't think Hull FC can afford her!

At last, something I can have a go at you about......
You appear to have missed IAs point completely but I will let him explain it to you as you will only want to knit fog with me.
That feels better.

I did after I wrote to Hull after the CC game and posted about it on here, suspect it is the same person! I do believe they are doing something but still it is falling short and is not quick and strong enough. The KC is still the only ground you go to where they have continued to allow a load of young idiots to sit close to the away end. When we go to Wigan on Sunday will the most vocal supporter sit right next to the away stand, no! Does the most vocal support in the centre of the South Stand go stand at the West end of the stand to be closer to the Western Terrace, no!
The solution is not rocket science, it does however require effort, diligence & commitment... they don't seem interested in this... so far!

| eerm I think Armadilo is argueing about 2 different issues.
I took the press release to show that Hull are addressing the potential problem that excessive alcohol consumption poses for their next game, whilst he is talking about the perennial problem of chav corner.
