Everyone will have there own views, using McGoldrick at centre makes me uncomfortable - however not too settled with Griffin as an alternative (i would seriously consider Thompson, even if the back row is his long term position ?)
Cant honestly settle with any, and still feel a specialist centre is required !

Why is Snitch so far down the pecking list. He was great at Wakey, was miffed when we lost him. Griffin played well for us at the start of the season and showed enough to show that he can play. Lost his way when his agent , Robbo , decided he wanted all his players away from Wakey and got him a deal at Crusaders half way through the season. Sadly Griffin then lost interest in playing for us. Think you will like him, he knows where the try line is, think the likes of Orr and Chase will get the best from him.

Snitch wasn't really given a chance under Matterson last season, however in the early part that was due to him being unable to break in to the side because we were playing so well. In the latter half of the season when injuries crept in Matterson seemed to prefer playing kids with hardly any experience.

Who knows, Millward may prefer him over others, time will tell

Had a really good season in 2010 but could hardly get into the side last year and when he did didnt seem as effective, hopefully a change of coach and him being ooc after this season will see a return to the old snitch.

Hopefully there's some recruitment to be done, particularly given that Mathers seems as good as gone and Millington will miss the start of the season with this shoulder injury.

So at present I see:

Owen, Dixon, Arundel, Thompson, Youngquest, Chase, Orr, Jackson, Milner, Huby, Ferres, Jones, Hudson.

Subs: Clark, Emmitt, Walker, Mitchell.

Leaves Snitch, McGoldrick, Massey, Holmes, Griffin, Nash, Davies as backup.

I'd like to see a centre to play on the left with JT taking a bench spot, I thought he looked very promising as an impact second rower. Karl Pryce seems to be the man chosen. Can't say he'd have been my first choice but he'll hopefully prove my judgement wrong.

I'd also like to see a line-breaking backrower to come in, maybe playing down the right with Ferres to the left and Jones in the middle. Maybe Millington fills that role when he's fit?

I'd have liked to see us take a punt on Kyle Wood. Wouldn't have cost the earth and would have offered some cover in the halves.

Still prone to injuries though so I expect our key new recruits could well be Messrs Parkes & Stirling.

Huby?

Or are we assuming he's out long-term?

Typo, he was #10 instead of the first of the 2 Emmitts!

Millward said Huby would be fit for the start of the season.

I honestly feel we threw all our eggs in one basket with Con Mika and think he would have given us what we lacked in that respect, i was hoping for a Manu type player (may not have worked - we will see what he produces at Hull Kolpak Rovers next year) maybe we have decided after we missed out to go with an alternative style with Mitchell, he will certainly add some pace and i have the same hope for him i had when we signed Scott Moore (unfortunatley he waited to display his worth until he went to the Giants) we do still lack a player that can break the tackle and keep the ball alive for second phase attack.
Not sure i would have looked for another halfback - McGoldrick for me is cover for fullback and halves and i will be interested to see how Brierley goes at Leigh especialy with the prospect of him pairing up with McNally, both young with floors but still good prospects imo. I also think Johnson is a really good prospect and as Burrow goes to prove size isnt everything (or so the Mrs tells me icon_surprised.gifops: )
