During CTSC 'Meet the Directors', one matter raised was in regards to the Xscape raising an objection towards Castlefords planning permission application on the grounds of matchday supporters using Xscape's car parking.

I don't want this post to be drawn into discussing the short sighted nature of the Xscapes objection.

During the meeting the Club has asked for the supporters to get behind the club and send as many as possible, positive letters of support for the stadium build. This will be in support of the many signatutres gained quite some time ago.

Ideas to emphasise in the letters of support, are perhaps such as using the train to get to the games (postive on the enviroment etc). Perhaps using Xscape for a few beers and food before/after the game for a more complete game day. etc etc. Use your imagination positively!

Please do take the time to send something in to the club, to support the clubs application. The request is for this to be done within the next 2 weeks...ie before the end of March.

Have tried to submit letter of support but get message "system error your comments could not be submitted" Dear Sir,

"As a Local Community Charge payee I wish to wholeheartedly subscribe, support and give my total backing to the proposed stadium development for Castleford Tigers at Glass Houghton.

In recent times the town of Castleford has suffered serious job losses, the Mining industry, Pioneer electronics and recently the closing of the Nestle confectionary site in Wheldon Road. This proposed development will bring a prospect for employment in the building industry (and subsequent sub contractors and allied trades) who will undoubtedly benefit.

Castleford has suffered from cancelled/deferred projects in recent times which would have rejuvenated a much depressed town centre, the delayed (sic) redevelopment of the bus/rail interchange, and the apparent non progress of the Bridge Street /Carlton Lanes car park development with the subsequent decline in trade in the town centre through lack of foresight (by National Government) and or investment.

I submit that in my opinion this project deserves backing by the council as it will rejuvenate the area in time of severe recession and will:

1. Generate employment in the short and long term.
2. Create additional income streams for other activities in the vicinity (Xscape/Junc tion 32).
3. Secure the future of Castleford Tigers in obtaining a licence, thereby securing employment of non sports employees at the said club.
4. Create income for employees engaged in the project which may be re-invested in the Towns retail outlets.
5. Continue the re-development of a brown field site.
6. Lead to further development (proposed hotel/ shop complex) in and around the Tigers stadium site.

I therefore recommend that this proposal is given Full Planning Permission approval by the local council for the conspicuous advantages it will undoubtedly achieve for the good of the local community.
