| Not signed a new deal with the Wolves, he was linked to us back in April. We do not have a specialist fullback, personally I think he would be a good signing. Actually I don't know if the board have noticed but we better start signing some people up pretty bloody soon - new players and current.

| I agree we need to sign players up soon.
Not sure about Mathers to be honest, he is a shadow of the player he was before he left for Aus.

| Are we really going to be last chance saloon again for someone else......
I like him, as a geezer and he's a balls out player -but I could scout 5 prosepects in the NL's to give a go to that'll give a lung for the shirt..... and I am just a normal geezer, manager and qualified Club Coach.... I suppose they're easy words to say - but seriously, we should call our new stadium second chances.

| If the price is right i would consider Mathers.
Matterson should of played Richie Owen at Fullback from day 1 this year, but his weird selections and especially on the that awful night in Bradford still baffles me.

| It wouldnt be a bad signing, but if we keep Owen and JT keeps getting better then I don't think we need him. We are in much greater need of a half back with a good kicking game and a prop to replace sarge.

Shenton himself said so at the England game after the match, so I guess he has.

That's funny because according to TM he's not signed anything and both him and Shenny have had a chat. That's taken from today's League Express.

I'll take Shenton's word over Matterson's considering Matterson is one of the 3 reasons he said he was leaving.

| I cant see Shenton staying all things considered about our club. He is an international and he has to make the move now to win trophies. ST Helens would be a dream move, he would be mad not to take the chance if they are in for him.
If Cas had made any progress in recent years it might of been a different story, but the club is in a sorry state sadly.
If we get a new ground and keep a franchise we should hold on to our home grown talent, but until those are achieved we have little to offer any player longterm.
Oh what would it be like to have abit of good news for a change.

Why?? He'd stand out at Castleford, and he's probably too good for Castleford IMO. He's excellent, i'd have him over Hodgson any day of the week as would alot of Wire fans.

I cant go along with your point of him being too good for us but i do agree that you would have been better off keeping him than paying out what ever sum it was to get hodgson. I think we saw the best of him last season and he hasnt really hit the headlines this year so if his decline continues you could well have bought a pup. but i would be more than happy with mathers and if rumours are to be believed he has signed a 2 year deal already but we will just have to wait and see if thats true.
