how good is John Davies i seen him play for lock land at u16 and he looked very good could of been a super league player

they just got some new players 4 ex england school boys and an tongan guy

And Cas have one of the best (if not the best) u18s in the country at the minute.

They are not gash but they are physically much smaller than some of the other sides in the league because they are younger. Hull KR, for example, are a really big side this year but last year they were a year younger and had 12 months less physical training etc. Next year though most will be too old whereas the Huddersfield team will all still be there and a year older with more strength and experience etc. The league table in the academy isn't as open and shut as the win column.

Most of Cas' team are 16 so you can't go on age/development really because a couple of the better teams are young.

But I have to agree with you on that Hull KR team, they're very big...but will most of them be moving onto reserves next season?

It's clear that Cas do a good job of snaring great talent. We've had a bit of a clear out as there's been a major overhaul for us this last off-season with our academy but we did fairly well last season with you guys pipping us in the play offs. The aim has to be to get a team that is a good mix of ages I suppose and we've been caught out a bit this time what with the changes but I believe we'll get better organised as the backroom team have now been set up for almost a season.

The amateur youth set up in Huddersfield has, in the past, been pretty weak overall but is improving now quite rapidly IMO and this will help us quite a bit too I hope. You guys have no such problems in that area.

NO! there is no reserve comp next year. it has/will be replaced with an u'20 comp like australia. many kids 20 and over will be shown the exit door at many cluns if they are deemed surpless to requirements!!

The U18's has been scapped as well.

Why?

SL clubs will have an U20s team with up to 3 over age players.

SL clubs to have closer links with championship sides with player exchange.

No formal comp below 20 yr olds.
