I've seen Mathers play some great games this year, but yes he has made mistakes. His consistency is a concern (especially as a fullback), but I also feel that he is a very talented player and hopefully he will go well for us.
I would have Hodgson over him personally, but on the other hand I feel that Mathers could be the best full back we've had in some time.
My concern is that he gets a bad start, his confidence goes and the fans then get on his back. If that happens then there could be no coming back for him, so hopefully he will bring the confidence he will have gained from his great season with Wire into his role with us.
Time will tell.

richie mathers is a fantastic signing imo for the tigers,ok he will make the odd mistake but he will give you 100% every game
his attacking play is also very good,i think he is a stand-off in denial the way he plays the game,i would much rather have him than that erratic tatooed bloke you've got at present!

Everyone makes mistakes - the only problem is that his mistakes will more than likely cost us because of the position he plays
Can't be any worse than McGoldrick and I for one am looking forward to seeing him play for Cas next season. It's about time we had an out and out fullback
