As we are talking about stadiums. Reading the Wakey forum thread re Nm /Newcold/YCP and as there seems to be a few Wakey fans on here, a [ugenuine question[/u for Chissit, Jinge etc.

Given the uproar surounding the Newcold development being outside the 106 agreement, and every Wakey fan and his dog screaming blue murder now the deed is done. Why did no one from Swag, The Community Trust, Sir Rod, TRB, IA etc pick up on this at day one of the application and let the fans, local residents (NGB4C), petition signatories etc know what was happening? Most fans seemed to only get the drift after the application was approved.

Not wishing to start an argument (had enough of those over the last 4plus years), but it was there from the start!

I can't argue that point as I'm not in the know that much, if it's always been the case it seems odd that not one of the above mentioned had any inkling whatsoever that this build was outside the 106 agreement.

The info was there from day one of the application docs going online. That particular quote is from the Design and Access Statement.

I cannot see all of the above collectively missing that small but major detail.

And add to that the anti brigade you would have thought they'd have had a field day with it.

Alfie I know nothing about the 106 agreement or the other 105 before it either that's why I don't comment on it and that's being honest unlike a few on our board who also know nothing about it but like to give the impression that they do and just throw bricks under the feet of TRB and the team what are trying to make a difference. Personally I'm not a fan of NM never was I much prefer BV but was happy to see us get a new stadium before you because of the criteria placed on clubs regarding new stadia which would have put us in front of you which you will appreciate was critical to both clubs', now it's no longer a race between us I am quite happy for you to get a new stadium as and when and good luck with it'
The good thing about that Newcold abomination is You cannot see it from anywhere in the Barnsley area and as I won't be applying for a job there it won't bother me personally, that said they built a new school a hundred yards from my home and twice a day I get my drive blocked by inconsiderate mums what have a right to park over my drive and nobody shows me any sympathy either, if anybody tells you it's a perfect world alfie don't believe em mate

Yorkcourt have pulled a blinder and I cannot believe they have got away with it. The anti stadium brigade are now worse off IMO. The local nimby's who didn't want the development in the first place have now ended up with what can only be described as a monstrosity (the Newcold building).
Everyone loses - WTW fans, fans of visiting clubs, local residents and even the ones who would have used the proposed sports facilities.
As the saying goes - be careful what you wish for.

All we seem to get is words and no action. So another date pops up 6th feb, most get excited and think, this could be it.....our new stadium on the horizon. Only to be disappointed by, unfortunately plans have been put back another 6 months due to blah blah blah, put in your own excuses. Sorry for the rant but that's just me being an old cynic.

I'm not really up to speed on this project. Can somone please explain, is the planning similar to Newmarket? Is it on Green Belt and is it likely to get called to Public Inquiry?

In the mean time I'll try and persuade Mr Carter to send a strongly worded letter to the PI that a community stadium isn't required in such a location because a viable alternative (and truly community inclusive) is been built anyday at Newmarket, i don't see anything unethical in that? I think it is the proposal to close Knottingley Sports Centre, Pontefract, Castleford and other 5 towns swimming pools due to high maintenance costs. Replacing with one new fitness/sports/swimming facilty at Pontefract Park [uor[/u Prince of Wales site [uor[/u Glasshoughton and a new pool at Minsthorpe

I thought this land went through the PI when LCC was pushing it as an alternative for NM. I also thought it had already been allocated for development therefore it would be unlikely to go to a PI, especially with the fat man favouring local issues being decided by local authorities, and let's be honest Box ain't going to knock this back.
