| Hard one. He's kept Leigh competitive despite money worries, he delivered fantastic Rugby and trophies to St Helens. He inexplicably cacked up his time at Wigan. I really don't like him but his failures are the minority aren't they?
As an outsider I've always thought (correct me if I'm wrong) that there is a real family cohesive feel about the club as a whole and the playing staff. Could he foster that admirable togetherness with his man-management style?

I never said he did, did I? I just added a bit of meat to the bone, he took over a skint, bottom of the league team and then got a raft of injuries.

| Think it's a backward step by the club to be honest. Milward has had nothing positive to say about us all season and now he wants the job!
We should be looking at moving up a gear and taking on someone with fresh ideas who can develop our juniors and get some seasoned professionals in to bolster the squad. No doubt he is the cheaper option which is why the board have gone for him if this rumour is true. Most of our fans don't like him and I personally wouldn't give him the time of day.
Let's hope Wakey get wind of the rumour and come in with a late offer for him!

| I don't see how Millward can be a step backwards for Castleford. He was won something everywhere he has been except Wigan when they had a dreadful squad.

| A coach who has performed well with and without money to spend, someone who on the whole has been in relatively (for sport) long term appointments. He has a WCC, 2 Superleague rings, CC medals - and people call that a step backwards.
If I could be bothered I would go back and read the "terry who? that bald geezer who was at London..... whats he ever done what a farce.........."
Truth is, he has pedigree, like all of us has mistakes on his CV, but who never made a mistake. Nobody at the moment knows for sure ANYONE rejected us, that is speculation. If he wants in and thinks he can work with us and deliver and we want him - fantastic, 2 willing participants.
Give the guy a chance, you should hear what i used to say about the company I work for when we were competition and when i was a customer of them, I belong to them now and they to me, so I am loyal - I think people need to relax a little and give the guy a break.

He has done ok at Leigh, but then Dave Woods and TM kicked ass in the championship at Cas so that doesn't prove much. But if you look at his last 2 top division teams.
North Queensland Cowboys - Played 14 won 2
Wigan - Played 12 won 3.
Wow! Great stats. Add to that his verbal diarrhoea (causing his sacking from Saints) and his constant bashing of Cas in his column and the Cas should merge with Wakefield rant and it doesn't paint a good picture.
His only saving grace is his policy on youth.

| I wasn't the biggest fan of TM and still aren't. I think Ian Millward could probably do better and if he has got the job then everyone should get behind him and wish him well.

No. It's not.
Wigan were changing their coaches as often as they changed their socks at that time and were in a right mess. He has clearly learned a lot in his time back home as he hasn't caused any controversies since he has returned. He can now coach defence as well as attack (and he didn't believe in defence when he coached at Saints!) Our former players loved playing for him and have said so publically. He coaches an expansive style of rugby, which I believe Cas fans enjoy.
Just as a point of possible interest, I believe it was Millward who recruited Pat Richards to Wigan. He has also improved a former u20s halfback of ours to such a degree that Hull FC have recruited him for next season. So he has an eye for a good player and can develop them.
I think Millward will be good for Cas and the players will enjoy working with him. He will bring out the best in them IMO. And that's a bit worrying for us when we think of Rangi Chase.

| If your club have bagged IM its a great move for Cas he is a far better coach than Noble and the numpty from HkR.

You have no idea why he was fired from Saints, other than he and our present chairman fell out. That sacking caused an uproar among the Saints fans at the time.
His article in League Weekly is always worth a read because he is forever putting forward ideas. He is an ideas man. Cas and Wakey merging is an excellent idea from a financial POV (which is the POV he was talking from) as both Cas and Wakey fans know. Neither club is wealthy. But as fans from everywhere know, finances don't come into it when there is rugby league to consider!

| Would have liked it to have been other than him but if thats the clubs choice nothing the fans can do at this time, will be more than interested to see who he adds to the squad from within the British leagues and also his overseas recruits.Would also want him and R W to make statements of their intensions on how they will raise the standards on the playing field and also off ( the new ground etc ) and keep the fans more informed than the club has done these past months and what ever promices are made stick to them to many have been made in the past and not kept.

| Leigh have just confirmed that Ian Millward will leave for Castleford next season.
I think the Tigers have pulled off a tremendous coup with this appointment.
