i agree with you Kinsley, theft is one of the worst things that can happen to any person, and if any body doesn't think theft is all that bad then leave a key on your door step and tell them it's OK, when some one steels your property it's devastating

If somebody was robbing my house I guarantee you the old bill would be telling someone they'd lost a loved one.

My other halfs friend got burgled in the run up to Christmas. Took most of kiddies Christmas presents, what they didn't take the opened and destroyed plus smashed the tvs, the lizard home and left 3 knifes on the bed upstairs. Good thing she wasn't home eh?

so what would you do to the people who steel high voltage cables, not just the ground but from train signals and points , when a couple of trains get derailed and people hurt or killed you can give him a slap on the hands and say dont do it again,
and yes we can buy new possessions, but if it ever happens to me again i would find out who they are, he, her, or what ever would not break in ever again

You're right. It's not part of the British justice system. My comment was that it was a just outcome for someone who was breaking the law. One less person for the system to support and "rehabilitate" had they survived. Call it harsh but I am sick of suffering and paying through the nose for those who are too bone idle to work and earn an honest days pay.

i can't comment on the part of people not working, because im one of those people, who don't work any more, and i will never work again, but on the thieving part, i hat these people, they caused havoc in my family and if i had court them at the time, i might have now been classed as a criminal, but it turned out to be the worst year of my life & it all started with thieving bar-stewards, so for me a slap on the wrist is not good enough

I'd say way outside the law in the case of the article - I seriously doubt we are talking "child" and the rails were probably jumped years ago.

Maybe if that mother had actually bothered to bring her kid up in a way that insured he wasn't a thief then perhaps she wouldn't be facing this devastation - you tend to get back what you put into kids.

I broadly agree with you in that wishing death on these individuals is extreme, but when it comes to cable theft you have to acknowledge it's gone way beyond naughty kid stuff and thus you take the risk.

As for the Daily Mail, give it a rest as that is the most tired of left wing intellectual cliche nonsense - it just echoes the opinions of a certain sector of society who are no better or worse than most others.
