Look at his spell between leaving St Helens and joining Leigh. Not much to write home about. Surely that's enough reason to be uncertain?
There are other reasons for my uncertainty based on things I've heard over the years but I'm not getting into them.
As I've said, I am more than happy for him to come to Cas and be a huge success and prove anybody with any doubts whatsoever wrong.
We've come a long way over the last few years and I would hate to think we're in danger of going backwards.

He was in Australia working as an assistant coach in the best competition in the world. Not bad preparation, I'd say when you look at the likes of Maguire, Nathan Brown et al.

| Think Leigh fans saying too good for Cas and should be at Leeds / Wire is a tad OTT ATM but Jonny is right that he'd be an excellent coach at Cas.
Plays a great brand of rugby, gets the best out of players and seems happy to trust youth? Isn't that part of what the Cas club is about? Also had success neatly everywhere he's been (bar Wigan) and that includes as a NRL assistant (see NQL fall since departure til now). He knows SL very well and is a well known coach to bring in good players.
Tbh I think Cas & Millward is the perfect match... Maybe controversial at times but play great rugby and can never be written off

There's no need to be so defensive over him, sure he was in the NRL but during the time he spent in charge of the Cowboys, he lost 12 games out of 14. In 2009 he was assistant at Canberra, yet they were more than happy to release him to come to Leigh despite the fact he'd signed a 2 year deal there.
There's no denying he has done a good job at Leigh, but until he starts delivering at Cas then people will have reservations about him.

You mean taking over a North Queensland side that Graham Murray left in a state after 10 games? The club had a poor squad, a raft of injuries, a coach leaving and debt issues. Not really his fault that is it?

| Also still managed to keep Johnathan Thurston there too, who wanted to leave the sinking ship.

Doesn't mean he did a fantastic job either.

He was released from his contract because he had been offered the Leigh job and wanted to return to his family in the UK. Nowt to do with the Raiders' on-field performance.'"
They were happy for him to leave his post though. All I've said is that his record between St Helens and Leigh isn't all that great which it isn't.
As I've said a few times, I'm more than happy to see how he goes.
