I noticed a post on the Fev facebook group where there is a bit of a campaign to get Will Sharp back to Fev so thought I would make a separate post on it. Obviously he has come in for a lot of stick following Sunday's game, probably some of it justified, and its clear that he is not playing to the standards that we know he is capable of(I do not think a lot of our players are either to be fair).

Its worth noting though that this time last season most people would have had Adam Tangata on the place back to Aus along with Matt Place and what a mistake that would have turned out to be as he is easily our most improved player. He has gone from someone who looked like he couldnt tackle, or catch in to a devastating runner, tackler, also with a great pair of hands. Some players just need a little more time to settle than others and I think that could be the case with Sharp so rather than we simply hang him out to dry it might be a case of us getting behind him more than ever because there must be nothing worse than knowing you are not playing well and not having the fans onside either.

I think Fax fans(and probably sports fans in general) are probably too quick to criticise, Ive been more than guilty of this on many occasions, and not too quick to commend on the other side of things. We know there is a lot of quality in this team and we are probably doing it a bit tough at the moment as people try to settle in and the odd thing does not go our way and its probably more important than ever that the players know they have our support especially the ones who may be struggling more than others.

So yeah bollox to bring Will home, this is his home while he wears the Blue and White and the same goes for every player.

The very fact that this campaign exists proves we have a player here that we need to persevere with.

I'd have him back. Unsure whether Sharpy would like?

Will has been and still is a quality player.

Problem is RM needs to field the strongest side which is determined by form and Sharpy ( and others) isn't in the best of it at the moment for whatever reason.

That couple with Saxton, Saltonstall, Potts and Eccleston competing with him for a wing spot makes it hard for Will to keep his place and once he loses it get it back, none of which will help his confidence or form.

A test of character for the lad and I'm sure RM and the club will stick by him as much as they can so he comes out the other side as the player everyone knows he can be.

Think the mistake he made in the London game which lead to a try and his subsequent dropping will have knocked the lads confidence. But i have no doubt that Sharp is a quality player (he's done it against us enough times)

imo Will is a confidence player and needs to be playing every week or at least a decent string of guarenteed games before we start to see the best of him. Competition for places will bring the best out of some and i'm sure Will is chomping at the bit to put it right

I echo GFBs post, the players need our support more than ever when things aren't going our way. The fans, like the lads and coaching staff, need to stick together and believe that we can put this right.

i really like Will and would keep him, but I am not sure he will get enough consistent game time to rebuild his confidence

I agree with all the above, but i`m beginning to wonder if the pressure is affecting his game,with four very good wingers all vying for a place in the team. I hope he doesn,t throw the towell in. He showed in the early season games, he has the pace and looks for support when his path is blocked, similar to Saxton which in my book is the sign of a good winger.

I want it to happen for Will as we know he is a good player, lets hope like you say he is like Adam Tangata and comes good in the end.

I couldn't agree more Ian. Play him in his correct position and get his confidence back and we have one of the best players in the division. RM wants to get back to basics and stop chopping and changing the team. We had enough of that with Karl and the similarities are there for all to see this season. Up The Fax.
