Are York promoted for finishing top of the pile or does promotion rest on the relative lottery of the playoffs? I hope York have secured a welcome promotion as it is always a great day out.

I think York have been promoted. Crazy system like with so many been relegated I would be surprised if York are nowhere near the standard of the teams going down.

Only three teams can realistically win it. Would be a huge huge surprise if anyone other than Oldham, Hunslet or York went up.

Maybe, realistically, just Hunslet and York? Wasn't Oldham's ground considered inadequate prior to their grand final appearance last year, so that, if that had beaten Rochdale, they would not have been promoted?

I consider that the winners of the league are the true champions and therefore should be promoted as that are the team who have shown most consistency and performance throughout a whole season. That would be fairest way, but that carries no weight with the RFL.

Whoever does come up will find it hard going against the two relegated SL clubs and the top 9 from this season's Championship.
