| A couple of big games coming. Should be lots of discussion on here, courier website, Facebook, Twitter. Are we all running out of steam already?

| Excited but frustrated at the same time as whilst I would love us to beat Widnes unlikely that it is I don't want it to take the focus away from the Leigh game as often a good effort in the cup costs you the week after.
Spawny Leigh have a far easier fixture at Rochdale.
But hey lets beat them both!

| No mention of the game on the Widnes Forum. I've got a horrible feeling that this game will suffer from the usual SL apathy regarding the Challenge Cup. Attendance 2,500 tops.

| The club are taking their usual quiet approach to marketing the game. Only one mention on the club website that I can see. Have they given up on marketing?

| It's all retweets though. Fans chatting and club just sharing.
Must be how they do it at the Roosters

| Theres some interesting points being raised, and I don't want to be continually slamming the Club or being negative, but there does seem to be an element of [ipreaching to the converted [/iwith our marketing strategy.
Its nice to see Facemuck, Twotter, email, texts all play their part, but im hazarding a guess that folks that subscribe to these, or a great many of them, are already intending to get to games or check fixture lists regularly, its currently acting only as a reminder.
Im pleased the Schools programme is still going on, and that certain public houses and clubs are sticking up posters, and also that the Club is conscious a town centre presence is important.
I remember a few years back whilst Shopping at Sainsburys there was Lee Paterson and others in the entrance handing out flyers, I haven't seen it since, maybe I missed them, my shopping habits are erratic at best. I also remember even farther back we used to have stalls in the Town centre Precinct with Players (In Club gear) handing out Vouchers, signing autographs, selling gear etc... and that many of the pubs, private Clubs and Sports Clubs round Calderdale would have tickets for sale, and would put HRLFC in peoples faces.
Now I know were a long way from being back in the Championship winning days, and I know were largely a semi professional outfit, but in all truth, we were then too.
In my opinion promoting the Club and games at supporters Clubs events, and using social media, whilst nice, is a little limp. we have to have more a aggressive marketing strategy. Those who either live or work on the Towns fringes, whilst still in Halifax, are regularly seeing other Clubs marketed and advertised to them, it gets my on wick, but fair play to these clubs, its what we should be doing.
I also know the Courier being weekly isn't great, but I'm afraid we can't feel sorry for ourselves or say [iperson X is doing their best[/i, there should be enough business acumen within the Club to see all this and know what they would need to do if it we're their own business.
Anyway, heres to Sunday, looking forward to a decent atmosphere and a hopefully a cracking game.

| Well Halifax have the best chance of winning with so many Widnes players out injured at the moment. Hanbury, Marsh, Ah Van, Mellor,Gilmore, Craven, Johnson, Phelps and Leuluai. Should be a close game.

Leigh didnt look to have it that easy last week, I would expect another tight game with Leigh seemingly misfiring.

My brother and I have a shop on Ovenden Road and have been there nearly 3 years now and the Widnes game this coming Sunday is the first time we have had a poster up for a game in the window. We have had all sorts of other stuff but never one for the Fax games which seems a bit barmy. But its up now so thats a step in the right direction.

| Halicat is a great marketing tool. can we not fit him up with a sandwich board and have him walking the town centre just for a couple of hours on a Saturday before games? Add the Line "Follow me on Twitter" under the fixture info and try and build up a non rugby following for him of people who want to find out when he's about cos kids will ask!

YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT NOT RELIVE IT.YOU CAN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BUT CAN NEVER BE SURE THERE WILL BE ONE.: |

I took some to the shops in Sowerby Bridge and a local School , it would be good if we managed to get a few volunteers to take them to pubs /clubs and shops for our next match.
